Doritos are the DEVIL!

Quote  |  Reply

I feel so horrible.

I sat here, in front of my computer, and ate 3/4 of a BAG or Ranch Doritos. I honestly opened the bag, ate mindlessly, and now there is about 2 servings left.

This makes me feel gross :(

I'm so disgusted

Don't buy them.  I would do the same thing.  I love Doritos, there is no substitute for flavor.  Maybe try the light Doritos on occasion. They are truly the Devil.  They taste so good but offer you very little in nutrition.  I am not sure, but artificial flavors taste so good because they are not natural.   They may be natural flavors, but I doubt it.  Remember not to buy them, because they are temptation to you.  It does not make you a bad person or a failure because you partook of some Dorito heaven, just get back up and be strong.  One setback does not equal a failure.  You are only a failure if you don't get back on track and you let one slip up destroy you.  Remember one thing, it is hard to change old eating habits and they die hard.

I would avoid buying them, and I do, when I am at my apartment.

But I am home with my parents this weekend and they bought all this junk food for ME---knowing I like to eat healthy.

Ugh, it's awful. Something that was meant to be a treat turned into a nightmare! And what's even worse is that I'm not even full! I could probably eat something else!

awwww, it's alright hun...everyone makes mistakes and thankfully you won't gain 5 lbs from that mindless eating! trying munching on cheddar flavored rice cakes (they are actually REALLY good and not horrible for you) or veggie chips that are low in sodium and calories...i forgot the brand i normally get but once i see them at that store i will let you know what they are, because they taste amazing and you don't feel like you're eating cardboard when you snack on them.

Yeah it's no big deal.  I don't keep any chips in my house cuz I do the same thing.  Entire bag of chips......gone in one sitting.

I never deny myself the chips, per se, but I figure if I really really want them, I have to go to the store to get them, and usually when I have that craving, it's late at night, and I'm just too damn lazy to get in the car and drive to the mac's store lol.

Don't feel too guilty - we need to cheat every once in awhile or we go nuts.  If you do see a slight weight gain tomorrow, it's only from the sodium and is temporary water weight, so don't panic. :)

it happens to the best of us!

Doritos may be the devil but there's no point in not buying them--why don't you just buy a little bag of them next time you're craving them? Sure it's more expensive but hey at least you can eat the whole bag (mindless or not) and not feel too guilty about it...

i'm at my mom's boyfriend's cottage right now, and he and my mom are huge junkfood junkies, so the cottage is surrounded with junk.

ironically, i ate half of a bag of regular doritos last night. lame!

Buy the really small bags of doritos.  Then if you eat the whole bag you won't feel so bad.  I eat doritos on occasion.  I steal them from my 6 year old.  LOL  I also eat them in very small bites, so I feel like I'm not just scarffing them down.  It works for me.

Yeah, doritos REALLY are the devil...i avoid big packs of them like the plague, because as soon as i put one in my mouth i take another. Then two. Then a handful...lol

but, yeah, i think cheesy rice cakes (or salt n vingear) are delicious, and more filling, but i can get weird looks if i take those to the cinema. I take indivual bags of crisps to the cinema - ones that are about 200 calories so you know what you're eating. Also, if you share that, it's like what, 100 calories??

It's so weird, i know exactly how you feel - sometimes ive eaten so much without meaning to and not even eating that much food, just calories! At least feeling 'gross' makes you realise healthy food actually tastes much better!

I agree with the one who said you should only buy the quarter bag, single serving size, and only one at a time! I'm a funyun junkie, and what I do is eat my single bag after working out, making sure to burn more calories than the bag had cost me in the first place.

And I'll add that you should only buy the chips on your scheduled grocery day - NEVER make a trip to a store just to buy junk food, or you'll subconsciously start thinking you can do it all the time!

I was at the beach most of last week and the weather was bad.  So I sat on the couch and read books and munched on pretzles and tortilla chips 3 days in a row.  I was horrible.  I REALLY love to munch while I read.  Luckily I only have time to do that while on vacation. But now I am bloated and I have to start from scratch.  Oh well, it's an endless battle.

at least you were reading, not watching the tv :)

eh, that happens to me too.
and with worse foods too, like cookies.
by the time i realize i feel sick, i feel..really sick. LOL. and ive had about 293% saturated fat and buttloads of transfat.

next time, dont bring the whole bag with you. just scoop some out into a bowl and eat it in small pieces. savor the flavor! :P

or buy quakes :) they're not healthy, but compared to doritos they are.
