1 year down, 65 lbs gone, 75 more to gooo!!!

Quote  |  Reply

Hey guys, just wanted to let you know slow and steady wins the race.  Don't lose hope.  Last valentines day i weighed in at 315 lbs.  I'm 5'9, and have always been told "i carry it well"...slap.   "You have such a pretty face...phhbbt.  Good gravy people, 315 lbs!  Well i had enough.  I changed my lifestyle- i didn't go on at DIE ..T.  I had good days, bad days and holey cow, 3000 cal days. I felt like quitting (weekly...sometimes hourly!).  I ate a piece of cake, f*** it why not some KFC to top it off!  Then i got up the next day, and started over.  Today i weighed in and i am at 250 lbs.  Major milestone at exactly a year.  I still have 75 more to go- i remember being at 190 before i had kids and didn't look too bad, so i am shooting for 175.  It will probably take another year, who knows.  I do know, i am not going back.  I have 3 kids (one teenage girl- if that doesn't make a person want to overeat, or start drinking, i don't know what willLaughing).  I work full time nights,  making for a lousy eating schedule.  And live in the land of ice and snow about 6 months out of the year...or at least it seems like it- who wants to go out and exercise in that crap? I do walk at home videos, when the mood strikes and strengthening exercises with a band. I live in a little rinky dink town with no gym so it's make your own.

I guess what i am saying is, with all the excuses, pitfalls, set backs... i didn't give up entirely, and am seeing progress....DON'T give up.  YOU deserve the best body to live this life in.  Do it for yourself, not because someone thinks you should, etc.  Celebrate every little bit of progress.  I luv you guys for all your support ((((HUGS))))..and if someone needs a little pep talk, come find me!

Wow K - it's so good to hear that someone else goes through this - good days, and then some really bad ones!! and the fact that you lost an amazing 65lbs in just a year...WOW. That is amazing and awesome!! Thanks so mcuh for posting this - it really helps realize that a day is just that - a day, and once it's over you can do better the next!

Congratulations on your fantastic progress so far!! I loved your post.  You have a great attitude.  You are totally right, slow and steady is the way to go!  You will get there!

Woo-Hoo!!! Kawnd! Way to go. You've done a great job. I like your advice: Don't Give Up!  Thanks for sharing. It really does help to hear about how others are doing.

WOW you go g/f!  You have done an amazing job so far!!!  I bet you already feel 1000000 times healthier too!

Keep us all posted on your continued success! You just made my day~
~H~Cool

I love your attitude.  You're a scrapper.  And losing 65 pounds in one year is beyond incredible.  That's a lot of weight to lose in only one year.  Yes, I bet your organs are delighted and your blood pressure must be way down.  Congrats.  I looked at my progress today and was delighted that I'd lost some and not gained back.  So way to go!!  Keep on stomping those bags of M and Ms.  And I'll remember you when I dance past the goodies aisle at Wal-Mart.  You are an inspiration.

Great job.  Keep working at it.

Congratulations!  I am so happy you posted your success, it gives a lot of hope!

Good luck on your next goal!

Dawn

Congrats. Just keep the faith. I went from 215 to 149lbs once. I now way 284lbs (down 17 from Jan.1) and am starting all over again.

Your doing awsome. Don't screw it up like I did.

I understand the part about exercise outside. I live in Wisconsin.

Very inspiring, kawnd11.  I wish you kept a journal, I would love to follow your progress.  Like others, I appreciate the message that you don't have to be perfect on any given day, what significant weight loss demands is persistence - every time you've bucked yourself off that pony, you've gotten back on.

Basically, while I wish I didn't have to deal with my weight/food problem, I don't get that choice in this life.  I have two choices:  I can address my relationship with food and exercise and lose weight, or I can be defeated by the challenge and gain weight.

Kawnd11, today you and I have chosen to be in the solution, and we are healthier, happier people because of that choice.  Thanks for sharing your experience, strength and hope with us.  That's what we're all here for!

Hurray for all of your success! You can complete your goal! :) I too have 3 kids.....definately easy to overeat with all the 'kid' food in the house! (definately have times when they make me want a glass of wine......on days I've heard too much whine!) Though I do get access to a gym, I do love my DVDs I do in the afternoons and on the weekends. (Just got Kickbox bootcamp---so much fun!) I found CC in late January, and I had been 'dieting' for a few weeks prior. I was at 229, and have already come down to 208. It's frustrating you can't immediately be a size 12 again, but I know it realistically has been 16 years since I was! ;) I don't expect it to take 16 more to get there though. Reading some inspiring CC stories, and all the features and supportive people I have found so far, I am really on board this time! My goal is to see 150. That was me at 16, in a size 12. Congrats again on such a great loss! I know it is a very big deal, especially when you have so many kids, as they probably don't want to eat the things you do! (If your kids do eat healthy, let me know your secrets!!) My kids are still stuck on mac-n-ch, chicken nug's, etc. UGH! I wish they'd eat more variety! I suppose that may come with time........I hope. Wink Good luck!!!

Thanks guys for all the sweet words!  Those atta girls are better motivation than a chocolate bar anyday!!!
