Dang!  I tried to let it load for 20 minutes and I got nothing.  However, I did google it and from what little clips I've found, it looks pretty cool.  Anything with Doogie Howser and Joss Whedon in it are pretty cool in my book.  Hopefully I will find a decent link for it when I have more time tomorrow.

I loved it.

The ending was a little weak and it doesn't have the feminist sensibilities that Joss Whedon is known for, but overall it was a lot of fun.

Make sure you listen to the commentary.  They even do that as a musical!

Meh... just mindless random things trying to be funny (and often missing). Reminds me of a bunch of comedy central stuff (they try sooo hard for just random shows ...random is funny sometimes, but its not a replacement for actual substance!).

I like Dr. Steel a lot more! He actually makes some good points! In a whacky / random way...but its just dressing for the actual content under it.

Agreed.

class_matters - where can you get the commentary? I heard part of it on an episode of This American Lift, but haven' heard the rest.

Dr Horrible's sing-along blog was nominated for an Emmy! I love Joss Whedon and NPH and Felicia Dey!

I might be a tiny bit fan-girl-ish

  I <3 Dr. Horrible's Sing-along blog and The Guild.

Nominated for the category: Outstanding Special Class Short-Format Live-Action Entertainment Programs. Who won?

Well, I never heard of it before today.... I watched like half of the link and was like "meh". It just seemed so forced and no real passion behind what they were doing...

No passion?!  How far exactly did you watch it?

Cuhz... Um. The laundry mat scene was intense. :)

Any dolt with half a brain can see the passion during the song On the Rise. xD

YOU SHUT YOUR BLASPHEMOUS MOUTH. NPH OOZES PASSION.

..... whoops. *looks around timidly and backs out of the room slowly to go take my meds*

Very sorry for my outbirst sir.

loriklorik needs to know the background, too, considering it was thrown together on the fly to give Joss something to do during the writers strike.

This discussion feels kind of a year late, since last year at Dragon Con there was a surfeit of Dr. Horribles, but I enjoyed it immensely and it certainly helped flesh out the Mad Scientist Ball.

ohhh, well...i guess that explains why it feels so flat...

The main characters acting is just sooo bad. Its great if they want to make fun of superhero / supervillain thing, but at least do it well!

I get the sense through the entire thing that they are just giggling at themselves while going through the lines (it would be ok if it were an informal thing like the daily show or something live... but they arent presenting it that way at all). Like if you were to get together with a bunch of friends and play around with a camera for a while (and write out a couple songs / quick script).

*shrug* maybe i was just coming into it with the wrong mind-set... if it were a short 5 minute clip on youtube, i think it would have been ok...

I think so, but that's just my personal opinion. Besides, it was released as 3 15 minute web clips in its original format.

I like its roughness and sense of giggling at itself. If I'd seen it on TV with commercials and it had been presented as taking itself seriously? Hate. But for its context and lack of taking itself seriously? I really like it. Not quite love, but lots of like.
