Dr. Oz Diet

Quote  |  Reply
Has anyone tried the You on a diet? I normally eat healthy but I tried it and it messed my digestion system up badly.  Now, I already have issues but I just want to be healthy and live a long time.  Has anyone that has tried it had success or even failed?  Everything that you eat is healthy.  I got straight A's until I had to stop.  Now I haven't eaten in 3 or so days.  My system has to get well again.  I'm totally confused about what to eat now.  Anyone got any advice?

not to get graphic, but what do you mean by "messed you up"?  i know he recommends a lot of fiber and it takes some getting used to, but he's also big into colon health and having BM's at least once daily (if not more).  anyone's system has to gradually adjust to that much fiber!

This may  be gross but I have diverticulitis.  You are told to eat a lot of fiber when you have this.  I normally eat a lot of fiber but just not raw veggies.  I normally eat them cooked.  My doctor said he didn't think it was the food but I don't know.  Anyway, I just want to be healthy and it seems like the healthier I eat the sicker I get.  I'm very frustrated about what to do.  I guess I just needed someone to talk about this with.  I wanted to hear from other people and see if it's just me or what

Is it possible that you have a sensitivity to one of the foods in the diet? Like nuts, maybe. I believe he recommends a lot more nuts than most people eat.

How long did you try it? It takes my body about a week to "detox" when I go from eating unhealthy to healthy food.

Were you eating the nuts raw as he suggested?   I don't have diverticulitis, but the raw almonds did a number on me!   My grandparents had that - and I seem to remmeber they couldn't eat some raw nuts either.

I haven't followed his meal plan exactly, but I've read parts of the book (as well as just the YOU manual)  Interesting stuff...  and I'm also guessing that you may have a food sensitivity.  When it comes right down to it, Dr. Oz's plan is eat fewer processed foods, eat fewer calories, and exercise at least 20 minutes a day.

You may have just overloaded your system... try only doing one thing to change your diet at a time, with a week or two inbetween each change.  (For instance, add a half cup of raw veggies to your diet, rather than making everything you consume raw)

That makes sense.  I figured that when I can eat that I would just not eat as much of it raw.  I love those steam veggies you can get in the freezer section.  I was eating well before this diet but I read the book and he makes a lot of sense.  It's just so hard loosing weight.  I'm going to stay away from the nuts.  I have to have more test run in 2 weeks.  Until then I'm going to stay away from the raw veggies and any red meat.

Just make sure those frozen veggies don't have any added sugars, etc.!   (I'm not as nervous about sugar as I am corn syrup, high fructose corn syrup, and - ugh - aspertame!

So you don't eat ANY raw veggies?  Wow... I would find that so difficult, as a staple of my diet is salads!
