So for the past week I have taken it upon myself to get my calories up. I was doing great and then on day 4 I had food poisioning from bad sushi. The day after it was hard to reach my intake level of maintanence, but I tried my hardest. Now for the past 2 days I have really been pushing. I even had pb and cereal at 11pm last night after Mexican for dinner. But for the past 2 nights (ever since upping a bit) I have been experiencing hugggeeee night sweats. I wake up at 3am and I am DRENCHED with the AC blowing on high!!

What do you think this is? It is so weird...not to mention, nasty haa!

Has anyone experienced this after upping their calories?

I get horrific night sweats too. D; It's apparently a sign of the metabolism speeding up - but it's so GROSS! Plus I tend to get them constantly night after night now, whereas before I used to just get them on off during the week! Yuck.

Yea LALA, I have been getting mine night after night. The thing is though that it is just really weird because I have never had them before and that is great if it is a sign of my metabolism speeding up (I would love that actually), but at the same time it is really GROSS and then I get shivers and I am freezing the next second. I am only 22, not 45 going through menopause!
I hear ya!!! same here. I am in recovery gained 20 pounds *yay* *mainly muscle*. ( I decided to go from anorexia which is on one end of the specturm to training for fitness competitions) so stick thin to muscle bulk.

Through my journey I was forced to up my calories to build muscle. we are talking an increase of about 200- 300 calories a week up. during that i experienced night sweats in which i would wake up just drenched.....*it sucked* but after about a week I was *regulated or normal* this only happened after a majour calorie ups or increases for me.

hope this helps!!!

i increased by like 500 cals and im hot and sweaty at nigh w/ the AC, but its also that im upstairs and its hotter in my room than the rest of the house.  im really confused if its bc its ssummer and hot or night sweats?  night sweats mean speeding up metabolism?  would that mean that you then need to increase your cals if you want to gain?

Agru: Not unless you maintain or lose on the amount you're eating, no. It's more a sign that your metabolism is working. :] And, I thought it might be because my room can get warmer than some others in the house, but I've had my room cool the past week and I've -still- been sweating like you wouldn't believe. ;[

Yea ladies at first I thought the sweating due to heat might be the case (I also have an upstairs room), but definitely not the issue because I made sure to wear basically nothing to bed last night (not the usual chill pants and t-shirt) and voilaaa.....nastyness again. I mean I actually had to get up and walk around my room for a minute to cool off.

So if this is my metabolism, is good right? I'm a little confused about it!

hmm, im still not convinced.  i do basically sleep naked bc im so hot and i have the AC on, but i dont wake up hot, i just go to sleep hot?  i am scared that i have a damaged metabolism though but dont know how to know that unless i were to get it checked, but i dont really have a way to do that at the moment.

I wake up at least once a night because I'm sweating. It also doesn't help that my hubby PUMPS out heat and loves to lay on top of me. I like to have a fan on me because, though we have AC, it doesn't blow directly on me. Sometimes it's a hassle but you deal!

i dont know, i dont wake up in the middle of night from being hot, to use the bathroom, yes!  if i dont have night sweats does that mean im not eating enough or that my body is still in starvation mode?

oh thank god...i really hope it's due to increased metabolism...cuz it happens to me every once in awhile...and i've always felt really gross about it!

i don't know if this helps, but in the summer i (ironically) use a thermal blanket because it's basically got big holes in it that let my skin breathe.  when i get cold i cover with a regular blanket, but i don't sweat as much as i used to because now there is that aerating layer between me and the blankie.  look for that really loosely-woven type of thing like grandmas put on their sofas.
