Me, and it seems like everyone else recovering from an ED here, is freaking out about that trademark belly. It has to happen but it looks well, odd and the pregnancy comments aren't fun to deal with. Clothes shopping (because nothing fits anymore) is kinda a nightmare.
How do you dress to bring out the good parts of your gained weight and minimize the tummy? Any tips or ideas?
I like to wear a longer light top with a dark, fitted hoodie over it half-zipped to bring out my hips and give the illusion of a waist (hopefully in the weeks to come it won't have to be an illusion). I wear wide leg pants to balance out my top half, but with a fitted butt to show that I have one now!
Reason: Moved from Weight Gain to Health and Support.
i like youre idea, nice and positive but may be better in health and support? :)
i like tops that are fitted around the bust and tie at the back (to pull it in under the bust) but are then loose around the stomach. im in love with waist belts around a big cosy jumper (for those in the cold places) because it gives the appearance of a curved figure!
Good point; I don't know how to switch it to another forum though :/ maybe a moderator will.
Ooo! Haven't tried wearing that belt combo in a while and I used to love it. Good ideas!
I do the jumper and a belt on the waist a fair bit, hah. Same with shirt dresses that're sliggghtly oversized.
I just cannot wait, personally, for distribution to work itself out again so I don't have to do this so much! Just remember this does distribute out and also that that "big belly" you THINK you have may be all in your head. And lastly? Clothes should fit YOU, not you fit clothes. If it's clinging to you chances are you need a size up. And who cares if you do? In some shops I wear a 6 and some I wear a 12. I've given up on sizing. I go with what fits and looks nice.
Babydoll shirts and dresses always make me look awesome :). Whenever I feel self-conscious about my tummy (after a night out of serious carbs and pasta), I slip on a babydoll and instantly feel sexy, beautiful, and way secure.
Lala: Augh I can't wait either! I'm finding that something that seems to be helping with the redistribution is resistance/weight type exercise for building muscle. I've been doing something for each group of muscles... gluteal exercises seem to have caused a weight shift to my bottom, and I didn't even have a butt before I lost weight! As far as clothes shopping goes, it's the way things look rather than sizes that is the problem; it's kind of nice and much more convenient to find things in the adult section now.
Fox: Aw, I love the way babydolls look! I'm wearing one with puffed half-sleeves right now :)
I'm waiting on weight restoration, first. >< I'm not allowed to work out, period, until I'm at a 20 BMI.
And, yeah. I'd much rather go on how things look, I don't care about size. When I find a shirt I like I pick it up in a couple of sizes and try on various ones. One shirt might suit better at a 10 and one a 12, and so on.
If you are going out, a strapless or halter top which is fitted at the bust with floaty bit over the belly looks lush. It will show healthy arms and who cares if you're top and bottom aren't totally balanced? No one is - show off that new butt hehe
sorry to hijack this thread. but speaking of redistribution, does it actually work? and how long? ive been upping my calorie intake and not working out just doing strength training but my tummy feels reallly fat and bloated so im hoping redistribution will work its way??
