Does dried fruit count as 1 of 5-a-day?
My mum got a little carried away when I asked her to buy some dried fruit earlier and bought tonnes.
I'm just wondering , would a serving of dried fruit count as 1 of the 5-a-day?

Why yes it does! Dried fruit is basically fruit with a lot less water, and if preserved correctly, still retains a lot of the nutrients of its juicy counterpart.
Excellent, thank you!
As said, yes, it does indeed. So does tinned and frozen fruit. Just go for tinned in juice, not in syrup!
It is more concentrated and higher in calories like fruit juice. It is best to eat fresh fruit.
yeah and be careful, a lot of dried fruit has added sugar. Its really easy to rack up cals eating dried fruit and thinking you are "eating healthy" so its ok. Littleshellys is right, fresh is best.
Because dried fruit are so high in sugar, and the drying process destroys a lot of their nutrients, its recommended that dried fruit can only make up 1 of your 5-a-day, maximum. The rest should be fresh
