Not drinking enough water
I never seem to drink enough water. I tell myself I will. I drink some and then stop because I'm not all that thirsty until a while later when I realize (yet again) that I am dehydrated.
I know, it sounds stupid. JUST DRINK YOUR GOSH DARN WATER!! But, for some reason I never actively think and perform this simple and easy-to-manage task.
I don't have the right mind set right now.
So, my question is... Do any of you have any tips on how to get into that right mindset and to sneak in more water here and there. I would be most appreciative.
I don't have many suggestions because I drink water like it's going out of style and don't enjoy drinking much else besides coffee.
What about getting a nalgene-type bottle and making yourself drink from that so you can keep track of your intake.
I HATE WATER!! But i have been trying to drink it lately. I gulped it like it was pewtred nastyness and someone was paying me to drink it. I have been doing it for a couple months and Im actually to a point where i crave it and recognize that im thirsty for it (weird) a couple sips (baby steps) I use a NAlgene its very comforting knowing how much i have drank and how much more i need. I keep 2 nalgenes (big ones) in the fridge at night and drink them during the day.
something that really helped me was a fast where i focused on God for a couple days. All i could have was water and unsweet tea and a salad for dinner (no dressing). Its was SOOO hard cuz im un overeater but it set me up so well to appreciate the water in my stomach. And that life is not about food! Its extreme but it set me up well to be ok with drinking water.
one thing that has helped me is trying to drink a bottle of 1.5litres a day. I open it in the morning and try to finish it by night. I keep it around all day long and just take little quantities whenever i see it. It's been working cause most of the time I do drink the whole bottle. And we're talking about someone who used to drink a glass a day maximum.
It helps me to keep water near me. I am lazy once I sit down and if I have the choice to get up and get something to drink or reach over and grab water, I will 9/10 times drink the water.
by making it convienent it really helped me.

It doesn't have to be cold, plain water... which is a little dull. It's important to get 'fluid'.... so be imaginative. With breakfast you could have a glass of hot water with a slice of lemon in it. Mid-morning you could have a fruit tea. Lunchtime, you could add a dash of sugar-free squash. Mid-afternoon a cup of green tea. Suppertime a glass of sparkling mineral water. Even the odd cup of coffee or a diet soda counts as fluid - although keep those to a minimum.
I think this is my favourite suggestion.
I'm not that fond of drinking, but I know I need to, so about every hour or 2 I down a whole bottle of water at once so I don't have to drag it out.
Hey I forgot where I read this but I just remembered I should do it too....wear 8-10 bracelets on your left wrist and everytime you drink a glass of water move one of the bracelets to the other wrist that way you can keep track of how much you are drinking....might be good if you go to a bar a lot and can't remember how many drinks you are having.... for those that drink...hahahah well there is my tip for the day!
So here is what I do.....I drink a liter of water when I go to the gym daily, and then probably one or two cups more later on in the day. But I can never drink much more than that because it is far too boring. So I FILL the teapot with water, and heat it up. I then take a few teabags of flavored caffeine free tea..( apple cider tea, raspberry, blueberry, mango, etc...) I sit on my couch, and watch tv, and drink my tea. I just keep refilling the mug. I end up drinking like six cups...seriously I distract myself with the flavors and with the tv or computer.....it works!!! PLus it keeps hunger pains away and helps me to avoid "Boredom" eating....hope that helps!
