Hello, not sure if this is in the right forum but just something I was wondering after going out the other night. I went out clubbing all night, went to sleep at about 6am for 4 hours then got up. I drunk quite a lot but then was thinking.. if I'm up all night how many more calories do you think that's burning? It's not as if I slept all the following day to make up for it. Just curious! :)
hmmm very interesting question!! i don't know... but i do know alcoholic drinks are very high in calories!
it would be great if we could burn 'em all up by partying all night though, wouldn't it?!
okay, unless you are dancing and really active all night you won't be burning any significant amount of calories off what you drank. I know an 8 oz drink (wide mouth glass) of a whiskey sour is 630 calories. A shot of vodka is 55 calories. So if you got drunk (depending on size) I think it's safe to say you drank well over 3000 calories the other night. So any calorie burning you did manage to do didn't make much of a dent.... :( --sorry!!
Thanks for the replys! Definitely didn't drink anywhere near 3000 calories worth though! With the stuff I drank it would have been closer to 800. But I'm just wondering how much extra you would burn being awake and moving around for all that extra time!
I've actually wondered that myself.
I go out several times a month (I live in Vegas) with a huge group of friends and sometimes I stay up till 7 am and then wake back up at like 11. I don't like wasting the WHOLE day away. Its bad I know but maybe I'll buy one of those calorie trackers and hook it up to my dress the next time I go out to see how much is burned.
I've always wondered how some of those girls stay so skinny. I used to work downtown at the clubs and still have friends that still do and all they do is stay up all night and party all night and still stay SUPER skinny. I don't get it.

I hope this isn't offensive, but party all night all the time + skinny + Las Vegas might just = COCAINE. Nuff said. Nice weight loss "product", not so good for your health!

I used to work at a bar and would work til late at night then party til even later. I stayed skinny because I was running around serving customers all night long, I ate healthily, and I had had short breaks and was mostly working so there was no time or opportunity for snacking.
Also, I imagine bulimia is a very popular sport among the vegas party girls.
When I used to be in the party scene, it was ecstasy keeping everyone skinny. It wasn't just the whole night of dancing, though, people literally didn't go to bed for 2 consecutive days. We went to afterparty, then lunged around whole day, not eating much, then went to another party the next evening.
I actually wasn't taking any illegal substances, but still danced a lot. 7 hours of vigorous dancing is still quite a workout.
That is completely true. I completely forget that half those girls are on drugs.
Well now I don't feel so bad! LOL
Thanks everyone! But I guess the question is just how many calories do u burn just being up and awake for 8 hours..? (The amount of extra time im awake when i go out - as long as i don't sleep much the next day eg. only 4 hours)
Will I lose weight if I eat the same food over and over?
You can lose weight despite eating the same food day-after-day as long as you eat fewer calories than you burn. In fact, eating the... Read more
