I know that water speeds up your metabolism but how would coffee prevent weight loss? Is it the same with all types of caffeine?

I drink about one can of diet coke a day and 2-3 cups of tea. It fills me up so I eat less but I don't want to carry on if it prevents me losing weight! (Sorry if this is slightly removed from the specific *coffee* topic)

I don't know about coffee because I've never drank it but ABSOLUTELY, water aids in weight loss.

Drink lots of it!!!

Tracy

Caffeine aids in weight loss.  Water helps you feel full.  I'd alternate coffee and water.  My mom says when she alternates, she doesn't need to go to the bathroom as often either!

A coworker told me a cup of coffee (black) will increase your metabolism 8%.  Might wanna Google that, although he is really into health and fitness.

My take is the more calorie free beverages you consume, the less room you'll have for food and the faster food will be pushed out of your system.

I agree with Salgal80.

I drink tea and diet coke between meals as it prevents me from snacking. I hope I'm not missing something but a lot of posts in forums here talk about cutting down on these things and I can't really understand why!

If there is a reason, I would love to know but if diet coke has 1 calorie and a cup of tea only has 16 calories max, I can't see a problem!

Water does not aid in weight loss in the way you might think.

There are many forms of metabolism going on in your body right now, but the one everyone is talking about is the metabolism of fat. This is actually something that the liver does when it converts stored fat to energy. The liver has other functions, but this is one of its main jobs.

Unfortunately, another of the liver's duties is to pick up the slack for the kidneys, which need plenty of water to work properly. If the kidneys are water-deprived, the liver has to do their work along with its own, lowering its total productivity. It then can't metabolize fat as quickly or efficiently as it could when the kidneys were pulling their own weight. If you allow this to happen, not only are you being unfair to your liver, but you're also setting yourself up to store fat.

If you have trouble with water being blah add lemon or lime some people even like cucumber slices in it adds little to no calories and helps the medicine go down!

Drink up and be happy! Laughing
