Am I drinking too much water?

Quote  |  Reply

I don't know if that is even possible. But I have had at least 15 glasses of water today, I am so thirsty. I have also been drinking it to keep my appetit down. I am soooo bloated but Iknow it's because of all I've drank.

So is it possible to have too much water?

15 glasses isn't to much at all!! (I average 12-15 a day) The only way that woud be too much water is if you drank it all at once very quickly (Which could lead to water intoxication which is very rare)

Our kidneys can actually process 63 cups a day!!!

wow 63 cups a day! That rocks! Ok well that is good. I am glad to hear it. So hopefully all this excess weight is just water weight!!!

Drinking more water usually reduces fluid retention rather than causing it.   If you don't eat regularly that can cause bloating as your stomach acids keep working away on nothing so have a small snack to satisfy your appetite rather than just drinking fluids.  In general, avoid eating sugary, salty, processed, ready-made or packaged foods in favour of more fresh, natural & home-cooked foods.  Too much sodium also leads to bloating

BTW... if you find you feel excessively thirsty all the time and feeling the need to urinate much too frequently (e.g. getting up at night to do so) then do consult your doctor.  It can be an early symptom of Type II Diabetes.

If you drink a ton of water, you generally feel "the need to urinate much too frequently." When I drink a ton of water, I don't get up in the middle of the night but if I downed about 2-3 glasses right before bed then I may just get up in the middle of the night.

Well, there is a such thing as "water poisening", but you have to consume much more!
