Driving trip coming up - need some advice.

Hey everyone.  Quickly, stats:

Female, 275 lbs, 6' tall, lightly-active lifestyle (I'm a vet tech).

Tomorrow we're driving to my fiance's mother's house in Arkansas, about 15 hours of driving.  I'm used to having a lightly-active lifestyle.  Clearly, I'll be burning fewer calories during the trip, but can anyone help me figure out how much fewer?  Should I worry about it at all, given that my eating goal is equal to my BMR every day (about 2050 calories)?  Any suggestions for good exercises to do at rest-stops - maybe a quick jog around the complex?

I already have plans for food to bring to snack on in the car - high fiber stuff, veggies, etc, but suggestions for that kind of thing would also be appreciated.

 Thanks in advance!

I'd say just enjoy your trip and keep your healthy snacks handy (instead of buying any junk food at the rest stops). It's good to give your body a break from exercise once n' awhile- although if you really do want to take a jog around the complex (hardcore!) more power to you! Laughing

traveling is very tiring.. if you're the one driving, you will be burning more calories than if you just sat in the car. That said, if you're eating your bmr it doesn't matter much anyway, because you can't go below that.
I agree with slayersyrena; one day of inactivity won't hurt, especially if you're making the effort to eat healthy like you are.  You can always take a run/brisk walk around the rest areas and stuff like that, and even do some crunches or pushups or something like that if you can find a rest area with an appropriate space to do such things.

If you're not driving, you could always take along a set of lightweight dumbells and sit in the passenger seat and do bicep curls, triceps, etc. Low weight + high reps will at least get the blood circulating and help maintain muscle tone.

Also, if you do a Google search for 'exercise while sitting,' you'll find a lot of articles for how to do leg and ab work while seated at a desk or what have you.  You could probably adapt that to a car as well.

But mostly, enjoy the ride and the chance to spend some time with your honey and get a change of scenery.
Thanks guys!  I think I will bring my dumbell...if I can find it...;)  I definitely want to at least take walks around the rest stops, 'cause my legs will be stiff as boards if I don't.
turn up the tunes and car dance too...fun and good for you!

Is 2050 your BMR for your current weight or for your healthy/goal weight? From what i've read, you can eat under your BMR for your current weight but not your healthy/goal weight, especially if there is a big difference in the 2.

Have fun on your trip!
