getting drunk on a diet
is it possible to get drunk this weekend but still maintain my 1200 cals / day??
how many calories are in a shot of hard alcohol?
haha stupid post i know but i really don't want to go wayyy over my cals just to have a good time
I guess it depends on your weight and tolerance but probably not. Why don't you look up how many calories are in a shot? That's basically how many calories are in that much alcohol, whether its shots, wine, beer, whatever, you won't get it any lower than that for the same amount of alcohol. Just make it a maintenance day, that might help.

i like that idea :) thanks
I agree, just make it a maintenance day. Another tip- diet soda has virtually zero calories, some sodium though if you don't mind that. Rum and diet coke (6oz altogether) is about 135 calories and you wouldn't have to drink so much comparing to drinking beer *depending on your tolerance, of course* but just 3 or 4 glasses at most and I'm good.
I've given you an url that I tend to use when I want to look up the calories of beer, wine, and liquor plus some cocktails as well.
ya, I'd go for vodka and diet soda for about 55cals per glass, 5 drinks should put you at around 260 cals, ditch your snacks that day, but load up on bulk such as veggies, fruits, wholegrain carbs and that should keep the cals low foodwise whilst keeping you full! Enjoy your weekends, you gotta have a lifestyle you can maintain so get used to it!
I agree on the diet soda combinations (I usually drink captain morgan's and diet coke). The tricky part is making sure you do not overeat or eat unhealthy things during/after. That's the part that gets me everytime.
Vodka + soda water and squeeze a lemon or lime.
Low calories & won't give you a hangove because you are drinking water and not a sugary pop.
Try it!

vodka and soda is great, but unless you're pouring it yourself and putting less than an ounce in each drink, it's more like 90-100 calories. and this kid isn't talking about having a couple of civilized drinks with friends; she clearly stated that she wants to "get drunk."
edited to add: i prefer it with cucumber slices rather than lime or lemon.

Vodka + soda water (even at 100cals/glass) - less of a hangover!

Well actually here they use optics to measure in bars here so its always about an oz you are served unless you ask for a double!

i think its 1.5 oz in Canada... Im not too sure though....
Diet soda is a tried and true mixer, be careful though. They recently showed that when your mix with diet soda you metabolise the alcohol quicker, so you get drunk easier and faster!
A shot of 86 proof hard liquor is 1.5 ounces and contains 90 calories. Higher proof liquor like Wild Turkey or 100 proof vodka will have more calories and lower proof liqour like Capt Morgan will have fewer calories.
don't eat very much during the day, becuase it won't take as much alcohol to get u drunk if u have an empty stomach.

How many times I've wished I hadn't taken that advice.

it is. it's actually regulated (and here come the libertarians to tell us that we shouldn't let our government dictate how much liquor we get for our $$$).
it's standardized so that we always know one drink = one drink. for instance, a 7% cooler or cider will come in a smaller bottle than a 5% beer.
it's a little different for things like martinis, long-island iced teas, etc. but it will always tell you on the menu how much alcohol is in the drink.
I do jack & diet coke. 1.5 oz JD @ 90 calories + Diet Coke @ 0 Calories. If the bartender is feeling extra nice, it might be a 120 calorie drink, but in that case, it's nearly 2 shots, and I'll be floored by my 3rd drink. 360 calories, not bad. Of course, it doesn't help with the next-day-water-retention blues.
