My hubby just showed me some article on the Internet about how unhealthy dryer sheets are for our bodies. I was like oh please, what could be so bad? If anyone knows about this please enlighten me.
I hadn't heard that before, but then again, everything apparently causes cancer so I shouldn't be suprised.
We use these spiky dryer balls... they're plastic with spikes and here's a picture.
Thanks for your feedback the balls are interesting. I use the dyer sheets to help keep my clothes soft and static free, can the balls help with this?
They are the most frequent offender for dermal allergic reactions. I get the scent-free, dye-free ones that I think are put out by Bounce? I'm not sure. You can look it up, or check it out the next time you go to the store if you're interested. Anyway, even the most allergic people in my house can stand those. They're not bad at all (and let me tell you, we have some allergic freaks, myself included).
I like the static control you get with dryer sheets. I too buy the unscented ones, and I find that half a sheet is plenty for a load of wash. I did get a rash from using liquid softener in the rinse, so I stopped using it. Also, I wash all my clothes in baby detergent or Woolite. It rinses cleaner.
i'm allergic. at least i was 30-odd years ago. i don't find that static is that serious an issue....
Well I suppose you shouldn't eat them, that would really be unhealthy, unless of course they are low in calories and taste like Red Velvet Cake. ![]()
I get bounce, and I use the same dryer sheet 2-4 times before throwing it out - still takes off the static and keeps the good smell in clothes. I don't go for other dryer sheet brands though, bad experiences with store brands lol! :)
My husband drove me nuts about this too. So, I started using 1/2 cup regular baking soda in the rinse water. I was skeptical but it worked every time no matter how big the load. No static and clothes were soft and....extremely inexpensive. The only drawback is having to be around when your rinse water is going in the tub. Hate to admit when the old boy is right, but he was in this case!

Mo- Yes, our husbands may have read the same article....mine told me the same with the baking soda! But first like you said you have to be around for it...which I never am. And second really that would be inexpensive....I have 3 kids I am constantly doing a load, I think I would be going through a lot of baking soda? Well, when my husband read me the article, I told him...what? Oh gosh how much damage can a dyer sheet do to our health? Unless we rub it into our skin? I feel like it is more of one of those things that some study saids and than in a couple of years they will be say no problem with them? You know like coffee which not sure is this the week the "experts" say it is bad or good for us. Thanks for your imput.....I do appreciate it! ![]()
