I just had a baby in Aug. I had hoped to get back to exercising 2 weeks after birth.  I only had to have 4 stitches, but one of them was enough to keep me from exercising for 3 weeks.  Then I was unable to take him to the Y's daycare until he was 6 weeks old.  Been back for a week now, its really nice to get time away from the kids, which are both screaming at the moment.  When you get back to exercising depends on what your health care provider says and how you feel.  Hope everything goes well.  Congratulations!

Its best to wait until you stop bleeding and then if the exercise makes you bleed again you need to wait a little more.  I have 4 kids and this last time it took me 5 weeks to stop bleeding.

Im afraid you will be surprised at how much time it will take for your body to recuperate.  I didn't feel at all like myself until about 6 weeks with the first.

Take your time.  You usually drop about 20 pounds between birth and the water weight that sloughs off over the next 2 weeks.  Gaining 37 pounds is nothing honestly.

Enjoy the baby.  Hop back on the wagon when its not overwhelming.  And dont be too hard on yourself once he/she is born if you dont feel up to it.  Your bones will be softening again and going back to shape and things like that.

(((hugs))) and congratulations.

It was really great to read this information.  I am expecting my second child and before I got pregnant this time around I was really into fitness and dieting.  I had lost a total of 53 pounds!

I know I know your probably thinking this chick has had a kid and doesn't know....but with the first I didn't care! I ate and ate and it took me three years to lose some of the "babyweight"  but this time around it is much different!  lol I really do care!!

Do you ladies think it would be the same for a c-section?  I have to have one again.

so i had my baby on the 10th ( a healthy 8pound 8 oz boy! i love him!) and i weight 126! ughh! blah! and im too tired (lazy) to work out but im going to kick my self in the ass and start a little tomorrow, im feeling almost all healed up havent stopped bleeding (pamperedkeri- 5 weeks?! i was wondering when this will end! thats a longgg time!) my mom has been making me all this food everynight and tons of sweets so i haven't really started off on the right foot, but im starting my diet tomorrow, im excited to be skinny again, i fit into my old jeans but my stomach and love handles are...eww so gross. i dont even want to get dressed or leave the house!
