Hey guys! Ok so I lost 2 pounds this week , which is progress I'll take it but my goal for labor day ( 9/1)  is a total of 20 pounds lost. That means I should be loosing 3+ a week!! I exercise about 45 minutes 5 days a week ( treadmill/elliptical) and eat 1300 cals a day following the 85/15 rule ( I have a major sweet tooth!!)  Any advice , other than put the cookie down fat a**. . . . .?

  • WEEK 1  (June 23): 189
  • WEEK 2  (June 30): 187  (-2)

A healthy rate to lose weight is 1-2 lbs per week.  Good luck.

Tell us a little more about you - age, height etc.  I think that 3lbs loss per week is unrealistic.  I know that a pound or two a week sounds painfully slow but for most people its a reality.  I measure everything and am super careful and I lose about a pound to a pound and a half per week.  (I'm 44, 5' 6'  149  - down from 161 since April 30) Here's what keeps me going through the ups and downs of the scale - Time is going to pass regardless if I trudge along at a pound or so a week -or get discouraged and quit.   Three months from now Would I rather be 12 pounds thinner or as I am now?  It's an easy question to answer.

Also - if its any comfort - everyone says that the slower you lose the less likely you'll gain it back.  If your like me - I don't want to go through this again!!!

I too think that 3 lbs a week is too much. I have tried going on this drastic diet and exercises and got tired very quickly. I think u have to go at a much slower pace.  Remember the weight did not come overnight to don't expect to lose overnight.  You may most definitely gain the weight all over again.  Also make you eating pattern especially be a lifeline commitment as once you stop eating and exercising it will fail.

  • I lost 2 pounds this week too, and I personally feel that is a HUGE accomplishment. Isn't 2lbs a week better than nothing? Or better than gaining 2lbs a week?

Thanks for the encouraging words! I know you're right 2 pounds is good progress. I am 23 and since starting on CC in January have lost 40 pounds ( down to 187 started @ 227 )   so yeah about 1.5 pounds a week so far.  but ughh  it's just so frustrating to come this far and not be able to go faster!! I am hoping to be able to wear something else other than a  mumu for the labor day weekend down here @ our awesome Texas lakes hence my mad dash to the "160's'.  But again thanks for the advice.  Like must_lose said as long as I'm not gaining right?

even 2 lbs a week is hard to achieve when you only have a small amount of weight to lose!  It's so much easier to drop 1-2 or even 2-3 lbs a week when you have 100+ lbs to lose.  When you only have 5-25 lbs to lose, it takes a LOT longer.  Be happy with every ounce you lose.  Trust me, when you see the scale stuck for weeks and weeks, you'll LOVE the loss....ANY loss!!!!

    Best of luck hun :)

haley - not quite sure why you quoted my post but in either case, I know the feeling.  I have 15 lbs to lose right now...it will take long for me to do that but at least I am healthier in the process.  =)

I don't know how many cals you burn during exercise, but if it's any more than 100 cals and you eat 1300 cals you could be eating under  1200 cals a day, your deficit may be too high.  How many calories do you burn including exercise?

I know this isn't what you want to hear, but depending on your body fat %, a safe rate of loss is 1% of your body weight....which for you right now is 1.87 lbs a week.

I don't know how tall you are...but might I suggest checking out this site to find out your BMR.  http://www.phord.com/cc/  You really don't want to eat below that amount.

For your best results, try eating as clean as you can stand.  Eat plenty of veggies, fruits, lean protein sources, and fiber.  :)  Don't forget the water.

    Good luck!

Ok thanks for all the replys  but according to this calculator I should be eating 1575 cals a day!!  I've been doing 1300. If I try to adjust and eat 275 more all of a sudden won't I gain weight?   And as far as how many calories I burn I don't know. I don't trust the machines because I can do the exact same thing 4 days in a row and 1 day it says I burned 600 the next 900 then 350. And as far as tracking my exercise here on CC I don't get it. All I do is track my food on here the calorie tracker just confuses the heck out of me. ( hence the title of the post dumb?'s. . . )

I say just keep on doing what you are doing!!

If you aren't hungry at 1300 then do it.  Listen to your body!
