E-mo or E-no
... Ok Im just gonna start off by already apologizing anyone i might offend..
Does anyone els think there is something wrong with this sudden wave of "emo"ness... I mean ok, I can understand style.. even some of the crazy ones.. all about expressing yourself! these days.. But when guys of the age 14-19 start stuffing them self into girl pants as a style. I mean come on call it what you want, but isnt that what a cross-dresser or a drag-queen is? I'll even admit that i have a pair of jeans that might make your average dude would might say " think those are a little tight?" But I have nothing that comes even close to what these guys are stuffing them self into... I almost consider this like morally incorrect... is anyone els bothered by this fad?
As I said in the other forum message:
I actually was in a convo with an emo guy. He said he wore size 11 or something and I said: "oh, wow, we wear the same size!!" Do you know what his response was? "Levis run small." OMG! I was so offended!!!
That's okay. He can't reproduce. Lol.
But seriously, that was four years ago. I don't think it's a "new" trend.
I love the thought that you put into the concept of emo. I simply not into the look. I have seen a few girls, and a few guys who look cute in there emoness, but its just not my style.
I am E-No.
I actually like the colors and general styles on a whole though. But just like all styles, they existing within moderation in my wardrobe.
I said sudden wave, not new... i mean iv had friends who where "sk8t3r" (skater for you nubs =p ) and they suddenly start wearing girls jeans... im mean honestly wtf?
I see that you were born in 1989. That means you weren't privy to the horrors of the 80's (more) and 90's. You have no grounds for complaint based on a few boys wearing their pants too tight. Sorry Charles Horse.
My little brother is way into this (he just turned 15 and has been dressing this way for a couple of years now). I don't really think it's comparable to cross-dressing, if I'm not mistaken a cross-dresser has to get some sort of sexual satisfaction from wearing woman's clothing. I think it's a cute little fad that will pass like all the rest.
My brother wears girl's jeans, straightens his hair into his eyes and even rocks eye liner sometimes. This is the same kid who, two years ago was into the skater look. A year before that he was a "gangster". Teen trends come and go, and this one is by far one of the more interesting ones to me. I never thought the day would come when I would need to recommend a good eye makeup remover to my kid brother or have to teach him how to use the flat iron.
I think it will pass, but in the mean time, it's nice to see that real men still wear pink and aren't afraid to express their emotions once in a while. :) The only problem I have with this fad is that my skinny jeans disappeared when he came for his last visit and now they would fit me... I lost my skinny jeans to a 15 year old kid... lol
Nope, you're the only one.
arg i just made a huge post and had an error and lost it... to sum it up im friends with all styles.. and i fit into none so whats that make me... only reason emo bothers me.. is why would you wear something that is so uncomfy (for guys atleast) by your own choice?... thats what annoys me is that theyd rather fit in than be able to walk around normal (<--- thats a joke i dont mean literally)
I hate poseurs, especially ones that are rude, weak, stupid, and have an overall bad attitude.
The fashion doesn't bother me that much, it's the behavior and attitude that makes me associate these terrible anti-social traits with the fashion.
But I can say the fahsion annoys me pretty badly, especially the Ron Woods Signature hair cut that EMO chicks love.
I don't feel sorry for them when they get their asses kicked by punks and jocks. That's all I can say.
Hmmm. I think it depends.
I agree, guys wearing girl jeans kind of throws me off. At the same time, I don't really care how people dress.
I like some of the aspects of the style, but it's already played out. It's just sort of an updated version of goth with an indie twist. What I don't like is the hair...that damn unisex hair. The short choppy haircut, with that one long piece...
Some people can pull it off though.
I agree with fortius, it's definitely the attitude. I hate those pretentious little brats. Worst of all, they block my view at shows...and they don't even know the band! They don't get into the music either, they just look miserable. Probably talking about some "underground" band that everyone and their grandmother knows.
I think the people that sport the attitude are just the ones following the trend. They're the ones that lack any form of originality...you can usually spot them watching 80's movies at the run down theater that has shows for $2. I love that theater btw.
My point being, not everyone rocking the emo kid dress code is pretentious. Just the majority.
what exactly is the differnce between emo and scene ?lol iv seen people dresses emo and they said they where scene... and vise versa... i know emo stands for emotional but a style is a style ill give that scene normaly dont have the emo hair
Emo is over now. The new thing is vampire.
Scene kids listen to techo, and emo kids listen to emo.
I don't have a problem with guys wearing girl's pants. Pants are pants and both genders wear them (it's not like they're wearing dresses and skirts). Maybe if men's clothing stores sold skinny jeans, they wouldn't buy girl's ones. My brother is 'scene' and sure it was weird at first to see him wear a pink care bear shirt, but whatever. I used to wear boy shirts as a kid/pre-teen, I liked the wild animals on them instead of kittens and puppies. I've got 2 men's coats, and a shirt - you can't help what you like. Heck, there's this store my bf shops at that makes me wish I was a guy because I love just about everything in it.
p.s. 'vampire' isn't new either :P
I don't really mind what style people wear. As long as butt is covered and ta ta's are inside your shirt.
ETA: the "vampire" look is not new either. I remember 13 or so ago lots of people were dressing like that and really acting like they think vampires should. If its back again its just a bunch of kids thinking they are doing something new.
I blame that darn TWILIGHT phenomenon LOL
Crazy thing is I actually want to see it, and no I never read the book(s) My lil bro who's 16, his girlfriend was into it and that probably the only reason I even know about it. That and the freakin millions of teens at the theater on Friday, whil I was going to see Quantum of Solace.
But anywho, Can someone explain the difference between "goth" and "emo"?
Weekend before last I saw a kid who looked like a girl, but was a guy, wearing saggy and tight girls' jeans.
Saggy, like falling down (or couldn't quite pull them all the way up and so showing off the top of some white panties with pink flowers on them) AND skin tight at the same time.
...
...
It's better than pants 2 miles too big and falling down?
My only thought was, good for you, little guy!
but I don't really spend much brain power thinking about other peoples' fashion choices -- i'm far too preoccupied with not falling down, not twisting my ankle, not dropping the stuff i'm carrying, etc.
I think its great that kids feel free to express themselves. But I have always been involved in the art/music scene. In the 80's I had a mohawk and today at 42 my hair is fuschia...so hell yeah! I love it!!

Google images can probably do an easier job of explaining.
