EA Active for Wii

Quote  |  Reply

Did anyone get this today? I got mine and i think its great. I was actually driping in sweat. The excercises are one after another with little stopping. I had my heart rate monitor on and I burned 266 cals in 36 minutes. I set myself up to do the 30 day challenge. I am going to do that and my normal gym routine. I set my fitness to high intensity. It only had me targeting to reach 156 cals in the game which is deff way off from what my HRM said. I would have to say the resistance band could give more resistance I find that its a little too soft for me.

Anyway Id like to hear what everyone eles says about it

bump!

anyone try it yet?

so i read a post you left on another thread, do you really think you burn twice what the calorie burn thingimibobber says? ( yes that's a technical term). My husband made a comment that he thinks I burn more then what it says. What kind of HRM do you have, I've been wanting to get one.

You really do burn more than what its says. I mean think about it while its changing workouts your heart is still pumping high so you are still burning. I hace a polar f6. I had to replace my polar f4 with it since it got stolen at the gym. But If you go on ebay and watch you can get them for almost half the original price. The F6 runs retail around 120 I think, I got mine for 70.

But wii active does burn alot. Im doing the 30 day and in one session I burned around 350 and the screen said 160. Do you have the game?

I'm loving EA Active.

I also used it with my HR monitor on. While the game said I had burned 200 calories, the HR monitor said 430. By the way I felt after the workout, I trust the HR monitor completely.

me too, I cant go to the gym with out that on. I have to know what my heart rate and what my total burn is.

I got it yesterday. I just finished trying it out. Fun. I definately like it. I, too, will use it in addition to my normal M-F gym routine. Hopefully these additional exercises can help me pull out of this plateau! I'd love to try it with a HRM but I don't have one. I'd love to see if I burned more than what it's reading out too as I plan to keep track of it. So far, my 30 day challenge had me at 232 cals and I plan to do another set of custom workout for another 200 cals later......after my legs have had a chance to rest from that dang inline skating routine. ;)

I got the game two days ago. It's not the inline skating that gets me, it's the lunges. If that trainer had me do any more lunges I was going to commit avatar-cide. So it sounds like I really need to get a HRM because it told me I only burned 153 cal on medium intensity. Um, don't think so hoss, I can hardly move my legs today.

The inline skating kills my thighs. lol Im good with the lunges but it will yell at me b.c I move b4 the rep is done or I shake my arm when I go back to the middle lol. My thighs and calves were so tight from doing the work outs, it helped going to my yoga class yesterday. I just needed to stretch everything out. a good stretch for the back of the legs and calves are a forward lunge but keep your knees locker and bend your torso forward to about a 45 degree angle you will feel the pull in your back leg. We do those in my spinning class after.

does anyone have problems with their ankles? mine hurt now since I've been using ea active. not the bones but the muscle all the way from the tops of my feet to about halfway up my shin. it's really taking the enjoyment out of working out and actually makes me not do the exercise to the best of my ability.

I've been doing the EA Active 30 Day Challenge and wondered if the calorie burn for the dance portion is accurate. At the end of the workout, my actual calories burned are always at least twice as much as the projected calories burned on the game. I haven't verified this because I don't own a heart rate monitor, just wondered what anyone else thought.

Also, does anyone know how many calories you burn while playing and doing the workout mode on Dance Dance Revolution? I love dancing on the Wii and was just looking for a little more variety.

Thanks in advance!
