Should have asked earlier......
Just wondering how many calories you would suggest during pregnancy. I am in my 13th week now and would like to gain weight as needed and safely for this pregnancy. I don't want to gain 100+ lbs like the other two pregnancies I had!
I am 29 years old, 5 7", and currently weigh around 148-151. I started this pregnancy at 147 as I never lost all the weight from my last two pregnancies.
Should I be eating the female recommendation of 2000 a day or add another 300 now to make it 2300 or ?????? Before I became pregnant I was eating 1500 a day to lose about a lb a week.
I am walking about 3 days a week at a fast pace for an hour at the moment. I have given yoga a rest for the last 3 months as I have a hx of miscarriage, but will prob start pregnancy yoga at some stage. I usually walk downtown (only about 10 mins) pushing the double pram most days as well. Not working full time but cover about every second weekend as a nurse in an out of hours clinic....
that's prob enough info... just want to know if you have suggestions for my caloric intake please!!!
This if from an older post, you can use the links. Personally I go with mainenance level plus 300, so I'm around 2000 per day. Lately I've been getting full really fast as opposed to my ravenous first trimester (I'm 15 weeks) so I'm probably getting around 1700 give or take. Good luck and congrats!!

I agree with m0m6, you should consult with your doctor. But you should definitely increase your calories as 1260 is not enough for most pregnant women. You may be taking the vitamins but your baby will need the actual calories from food (as will you).
My doctor recommends 2500 calories as a general guideline to aim for but of course it will vary from person to person based on their age, height, and weight pre-pregnancy.
Here is are a couple calculators that you can use:

Most websites will recommend eating at least your maintenance calories during the first trimester, add 300 calories during your second, and then 300-500 during your third. But again, it varies so the best person to talk to would be your doctor.
I would definitely ask your doctor- I think a question like this is best answered on a case by case basis by a health care professional. Not some yahoo, like me :-)
