Early Pregnancy Symptoms
What were your earliest signs/symptoms of pregnancy and when did you feel them?

the biggest boobs of my LIFE after only 5 weeks. A woman at work asked me if I got implants over the weekend ![]()
5 weeks from conception or from the date of your last period?
Any other early symptoms gals??? Come on now, there must be loads of stories!!!
Trying to think back here, lo these many years. Starting from about what would have been two weeks after conception - excruciatingly sore boobs, sleepiness and fatigue to where only a nap would do. Pretty bad nausea. Oh, and crying jags. I am so not a crier, it was embarassing.
Early pregnancy feels so like being pre-menstrual that it can get very confusing!
My baby is only three months old and I already forgot what it felt like to be very early in the pregnancy. This is troublesome because my period is about five days late right now and I'm so paranoid I'm preggers again! It feels like I'm about to start my period but that is also what I remember feeling right before I found out I was prego about a year ago.
AH!
Yes, for me it was very much like pre-menstrual symptoms - sore boobs, out of sorts, tired, a bit of "heaviness" in my abdomen. I actually was waiting for my very irregular period (thinking it should start any day) so I could take my first dose of Clomid fertility drugs when I saw "The Good Girl" with Jennifer Aniston, and she had the same symptoms I did. I took a test, and lo and behold, I was pregnant!
Bronchitis - every single time and every time turned into pneumonia. Last time doctor wanted to do chest xrays and I said hadn't had my period since D&C the previous month and she said no way I could be pregnant that soon after D&C but would test anyway - low and behold they called the next day with congratulations (turns out she survived a D&C done for endo). I had told them before the D&C that I should have had my period but it hadn't started (and I always had spotting before so I knew it wasn't coming). The conception took place after ex got a partial vasectomy done - they could only do one cord in doc's office and booked him into hospital for other one 2 weeks later. Timing is everything :) We call her the miracle child - she's 19 now.
Also had cramping (different than period cramping) and sore boobs as well as being tired and nauseous.
I threw up. Some will say it's impossible but about 2 weeks after we "tried" for the first time, I lost my lunch at work. I hadn't vomited since I was pregnant with my daughter four years earlier.
I bought a pregnancy test after work that day and it came back negative. I tested again the following Saturday and got a positive. I tested that evening and got a positive again. I hadn't even missed a period yet (it would have been the following Tuesday).
With my first pregnancy, it was definitely the sore boobs. It's never a menstrual symptom for me so when I could barely put a bra on, I knew something was up.
I am 6 weeks pregnant with nb2. with my first I remember having rock solid and huge boobs, this time round they are barely changed, but what i do have along with horrible nausea, is a bizarre metallic taste in my mouth. I did some research online and it turns out its fairly common. its absolutely disgusting, all i can compare it to is sucking on pennys that have been in between tinea toes for two weeks. Not helping the nausea at all.
also very tired and emotional. I cried at so you think you can dance last night for gods sakes. husband thinks its halarious.
i wonder why this time my boobs are fine? does anyone think different symptoms respond to if your having a boy or a girl? our first was a girl and we are now hopeing for a boy....

I think that is just an old wive's tale.
I heard that because of the different hormone levels produced depending on gender, the pregnancy symptoms differ. I'm fairly certain this is false.
The difference could be that it's simply your second pregnancy. Who knows?!
I swear by the heartrate to predict gender even thought it's also an old wive's tale. :)
I am just 12 weeks now, but here were my earliest symptoms (before I even knew):
1) While at the gym, my heart rate got VERY high very easily and didn't come down as quickly as normal (this was beyond weird for me;
2) I woke up to pee one night probably about 5 times (which I never, ever do); and
3) Once I got up to pee, I had a hard time falling back to sleep (also unusual--I sleep like a rock!!).
But otherwise, I had NO symptoms at all. Not until about 7 weeks, at which time my IBS decided to act up and I could pretty much only eat cheese, carbs, fruit and milk. Oh, and sweets and fried stuff--woo hoo!!! Now I'm having very few symptoms again--my boobs are big, I'm bloated/showing a little, and I get worn out at the gym more easily than before--but otherwise I feel great!!
When I was about 5 weeks pregnant (two weeks after conception?) I noticed I was STARVING. Much, much hungrier than usual. I could eat every hour! And I also started being really tired - like so tired I would lay down on the floor in my office at work and take a nap! I had those two symptoms most of my pregnancy LOL! I also had cramps right before I missed my period.
At about 4 weeks pregnant (after conception), I was so tired I had trouble keeping my eyes open and it wasn't even 7pm yet. This after routinely be accustomed to going to bed around 11pm. We'd gone out to dinner for our anniversary, and I could barely eat, because I was so sleepy.
I would get so hungry that I had to constantly have something small to snack on or I'd get nauseous. I never threw up, but I came close a few times. By the time I got to the bathroom though, the feeling went away, thankfully.
Weird thing that happened to me that never happened before or after the month of conception: When I was 3 days past conception (I was tracking my cycle), I woke up in the middle of the night with cramps so bad I thought my period had started. I actually rushed to the bathroom because I really thought I had a mess, then realized, there's no way it could be starting that soon.
I also had cramps the day before my period was supposed to show up. I had taken a test that morning that came up positive so I knew I was pregnant, but had I not taken the test, I would have sworn that I was getting my period that day.
About 4 days before the period that never came, I had excrutiating breast pain--worse than pre-menstrual. They grew pretty quickly as well. I also thought I was getting a bladder infection but I thought it was very peculiar because I only got the frequent-urge-to-pee in the evenings around the time I was laying down. After 2-3 days of this, I finally went to the doctor because it was bothering me. They only did a urine test and it came back positive. I thought the doctor was joking with me because they never came back in to take my blood (I had just done a test for the bladder infection) and then he walked back into the room saying "Well, your pregnant!" very cheerfully. It was only when he launched into a speech about pre-natals that I figured out he was serious. lol
EDIT: Oh yeah, it was good I got the test when I did because the next day my morning sickness started! lol
My first clues were waking up to pee A LOT in the middle of the night and sore nipples. They started about a week before my period was due.
I thought I would finally chime in since I am finally pregnant again (I had a miscarriage in early June). Anyway, for the first pregnancy I had very sore breasts and major cramps. For this one, I have no symptoms, zilch. I feel great. It's still super early but besides some mild cramping I wouldn't know I was pregnant at all. It's still early at only 5 weeks so I guess there is time for more to come!
Congrats nycgirl!!! I was hoping that was why you were asking :) Aside from an elevated heart rate and waking up to pee a lot, I had NO pregnancy symptoms until 7 or 8 weeks. Eventually my breasts got tender and started gaining weight, but I haven't had too many symptoms even to this day (I'm now 17 weeks). Enjoy this time, and I hope all goes well for you. Keep us posted!!
PS--I'm in NYC too!
