Early 20's wanting to lose 15 pounds by Christmas?!? (GROUP CLOSED TO NEW MEMBERS)
Hey! My name is Sarah! I'd like to start a group with goals similiar to mine.
Age: 21
Height: 5'4 1/2" that half an inch matters! =)
SW: 140
CW: 125
GW: 110
Heres my story:
Although I've never been "obese", I've always been kinda chunky. I have a small frame so weight doesn't look good on me at all. I've always LOVED food a little too much. I can remember being around 10 years old, at home with my brother during the summer while my mom was at work, and bingeing on peanut butter sandwhiches and ice cream. When I started middle school I started thinking about my weight constantly...there would be days I would't eat and then the next day when I wasn't any smaller (like I thought I would be from only one day ...haha yeah right!) I'd go back to my old eating habits. Since about age 16, I've weighed 135-140. Last year I started working out and dieting (crash diets, i.e. cabbage soup diet). The weight wasnt coming off soon enough so I started taking diet pills. After I lost about 10 pounds, I started bingeing BAD! Then to compensate I started taking laxatives. Long story short, I gained the weight back and ended up with a laxative dependency (couldnt go without them). After looking at pictures from my 21st bday, I decided it was finally time to lose the weight. In May I started eating 1200 calories a day and working out 7 times a week (still taking diet pills and laxatives). By the first of July, I was at 118. Then I went on vacation to florida and completely left my diet back in Tennessee...when I came back I was so sad to see that I had gained 8 pounds! Of course alot of that was water weight, I quickly dropped down to 122. Well, since my vacation, I have not been motivated!!! I have been doing pretty good during the week, but once the weekend comes, my diet is long gone! I have recently stopped using laxatives (its been 3 weeks since i took my last one!) and I have also stopped taking diet pills. I want to lose weight the healthy way, but I have got to get motivated!
Anyone wanna join?? I'd like to get a small group together of people with goals similiar to mine. I'm hoping we can motivate each other! The last 10 pounds are the hardest to lose!
Reason: moved to a more appropriate forum
am I similar enough? I'm 22, 5'2'', right now 124.8 - would ideally like to be between 110-115... I've been dying to find an open group
Of course!!!
yes! :)
How long have you been trying to lose weight???
What is your diet/workout plan???
I'm thinking maybe we could do weigh-ins on Fridays???
I've been dieting since May - and I am really only dieting now - no time for working out, although in september i plan on running - once its not 90 degrees. But I walk almost everywhere because i live in NYC. I eat around 1300-1400 calories, and weigh ins on Fridays sounds good to me.
Oh also, I wanted to add - I have a problem with weekends too. I don't have the same structure of bringing a healthy meal for lunch to work- I'm with my boyfriend all weekend and drinking at night, having meals with him usually means I eat more than I need to.
We have a lot in common!!! I hear ya on the not having time to work out thing... I work two jobs. My first job is a desk job (7:30 - 4) monday - friday and I also serve at a restaurant 4 nights a week. I normally try to get to the gym after I get off work at night and on the nights that I have free from working, but its hard! After working so much, the last thing I want to do is go the gym. I have been really bad these past couple weeks. I really need to get into the routine of going everyday again.
As for the weekends, I HEAR YA! Me and my bf (we live together) try to have a date night at least one night on the weekends. We always drink and I always get into the "lets just have a good time" mentality and end up eating things I would never eat during the week. Also, he is trying to gain weight right now too, so there is always yummy but very fattening foods around. Its so hard to resist! I envy him...he is trying to intake 3,000-4,000 calories a day while I'm trying to intake only 1,200! I wish I could eat 3,000 a day!
Anyways, hopefully more people will join our group but until then, we can motivate each other!
I would love to join! Im 21, 5'2 at 135. I would love to lose 15 pounds, but havent been completely motivated the last couple of weeks. This is exactly what I need to start being accountable and get this weight loss started :)
Hi, my name is Jessie and this sounds great to me if I can still join you.
I'm 21, 5'4".
Start weight: 138. Current Weight: 132? Goal Weight: 120.
I am graduating from college in December and my goal is to get back to what I weighed before starting my 4.5 year education/party. :) I exercise a couple days a week but need to get into a stricter routine, I'm athletic so those little jogs dont do much. I usually eat quite healthy but similar to you all weekends put me down with alcohol and (usually pizza)! Friday weigh-ins are good for me. Let's do this!!

Yay!.. More people! Welcome! I'm so excited!
ppreble0907 - I hear ya on the not being motivated thing! Thats why I wanted to get a group started! We can help each other out! Feel free to let out any frustrations along the way. Idealy, I'd love for this to a smaller group with people who are serious about losing the weight. I will probably be stopping in to post everyday (as I have a desk job that is sooooo boring).
How many calories are you going to intake? How much do u plan on working out?
Do Friday weigh-ins work for you???
Congratulations on graduating in December!!! Thats exciting!!!
How are you planning on losing the weight???
Understandable if you want to skip Friday's weigh in. Do you want to post it after your off your TOM? Funny, every woman I have talked to in the past couple days are on TTOM!!! It's driving me crazy because I am currently 16 days late!!!! (I took 2 preg. tests...both negative.. whew!) Anyways, it's probably none of my business, but do you seriously eat 800 calories some days??? Thats not good for you! You should always aim to eat at least 1200 calories a day. That is, if you want the weight loss to be permanent.
ALRIGHT! Well, once again, welcome! Can't wait to get started!!! =)
P.S. Anyone have a problem with bingeing???
Sarah
I really want to do one of these, but I don't know if I'm similiar enough. =( I am in the fact that I really need motivation! (Especially to work out!)
Age: 21
Height: 5'7"
High Weight: 168
Low Weight: 145
Current Weight: 166
Goal Weight: 145-150 (and we'll see from there!)
I want to lose 15lbs by Christmas for a lot of reasons.
1. My family might be going to Puerto Rico and I don't want to show off how much weight I've gained since I started college since I was at my lowest before college and my body is so out-of-porportion the only thing I can wear is a bikini and I have to show of my body! (Plus, it will really sick it to a certain someone in my family.)
2. I hope to be engaged around Christmas. (Hahaha, like I can do anything about that? But it would be a perfect time, in my not so humble opinion, for the boyfriend of three years to purpose!)
3. I don't want to graduate with this extra weight and the sooner I start the sooner I don't have to worry about it!
I've never had an ED and I don't binge or anything. My mum just prepared healthier meals than I thought and I ate out 80% of the time and mac and cheesed the rest through the first three years of college!
I lack motivation because my boyfriend is a really picky eater and now that we live together I'm usually making two meals and it takes about two hours to be done with dinner. And I hate to work out, plain and simple, but I have a lot of time next semester to do it.
Plus, we're state neighbors! (Georgia, for me!)
tincognito - Hey state Neighbor! =) Of Course you can join! We are all here for the same reason; to lose weight and feel better about ourselves! I will be so jealous if you end up going to Puerto Rico! I would love to take a vacation there. Also, I understand what you mean about the boyfriend of three years and possibly purposing.. I too have a b/f of three years, but he is broke and probably wont splurge on a ring anytime soon. =( Oh well! Anyways, about you not being motivated to work out...do you have any friends who are into working out? Thats what helped me... a couple of my friends are really into it and they got me started. All you have to do is get into a routine and then it becomes fairly easy to do. When I was working out 7 days a week, I felt like something was missing if I missed even one day. It can get addictive!
Anyways, I gotta get back to work, but...WELCOME!
Yay! Im excited to get this started! Friday weigh-ins work for me, but if theres one this week I'll probably skip since i know nothing will have changed in 2 days :)
I don't have an actual mapped out diet and exercise plan yet, but I definitely plan to eat less and move more than I do now :) I have an office job too, so its a lot of sitting around on the computer and munching away cause I'm bored. I know I'm definitely gonna have to start counting the calories that go into my mouth (according to CC around 1400) and if I wanna munch make sure its healthy. So i think thats a good start. I also plan to start using my gym a lot more than I have been. I've gone maybe 2 times in the last 2 weeks...(horrible percentage) so I'll probably up it to a least 5 times a week.
Well, we're collectively broke right now, because we just bought all kinds of furniture and new apartment things, but even though he's still in school, he's got a fabulous job, and enough money to buy the ring... certainly by Christmas, as long as things don't change! Haha! (I feel so shameful saying these things! I don't want to look like someone just looking for a rock, but I really can't imagine myself with anyone else, everyone says we have a healthier relationship than most married people, and now that we live together it seems almost silly not to.)
A looooong time ago around New Years I started working out with my sister. She's a vegan and a super health nut. Well, then school happened, and everything got thrown off after a while. Luckily, she's moving into my apartment complex in August so hopefully we can start running/taking tennis lessons/going to the gym/something!!! Unfortunately she's way more advanced on the working out scene than me, so I kinda drag her down. =(
I work out best on a routine, and when I go back to school in August it's easier to have a routine. Ideally I'd like to work out five times a week. I know working out really tones me up and makes me look fab because way back when before I started college I worked out real consistently and I could see the extra fat almost falling off. So I know it works, it's just getting out of this rut!
And I have a boring office job too, haha! And when I don't, I'll be in school, so I can certainly check back often!
I've always wanted to go to Puerto Rico, so I'll be stoked! We'll see if it pans out, though.
PPreble - What do you eat at work for snacks? Ughhh, vending machine is always taunting me! Especially because it's right next to the water cooler!!! The only thing that helps me through is that I don't carry cash and I have too much pride to beg. ^_~

We all seem to have boring office jobs and boyfriends who we want to propose (mine's broke too).
At my office job, i usually bring a special k cereal bar (i love the vanilla crisp one), a turkey sandwhich on whole wheat, sometimes some sort of 100 calorie pack, most of the time half a chopped bell pepper, sometimes a bag of grapes, and lots of water.
BTW - I like the weigh in on Friday because it means I have plenty of time to recover after the weekend. XD
And they're serving cake in my office right now, in the break room. I sit right next to the breakroom. It's awful. =(

I'll have to try the vanilla crisp ones! For a while I ate one with chocolate, but didn't feel it really was worth it in terms of taste and calories. I'd rather just have a few M&Ms, and me eating a little chocolate just makes me crave it more. =(
But apparently water really helps you shed weight. I bought a 32 oz water bottle and I'm determined to drink two of them a day. It's pretty rough for me. Not that I don't like water, I just never drank a lot of anything, and it makes you feel so full... (Which has it's plus sides, but it makes me feel sloshy, haha! If I work out more, though, I bet it won't be so hard!)
And I hope ALL our boyfriends magic up some cash after we drop fifteen pounds at Christmas time!!! :-P
Ahh the dreaded vending machine! I'm so glad that we don't have one of those here or I would be in even more trouble :) I pretty much snack on whatevers around. It seems like somebody always brings somthing in, like cookies, banana bread, cheez its, ect. and I always have some....guess you can tell why I've gained the 10 extra pounds in the last year :) haha, that and I've also become a victim of what I call "happy weight."( Dang happy and healthy relationships ;)
