Easier access to TAGGED item

Quote  |  Reply

just a suggestion-----

i wish when i searched for an item to log that my TAGGED items would come up as a choice as well as searching the database.

when i want to log a tagged item i have to go somewhere else to do it. it's not entirely difficult, just doesn't seem to be logical.

am i missing something?

My answer is that's why they are tagged, so you don't have to search for them.  I know what you mean, sometimes I forget that I have tagged them, however if what I tagged would come up in addition to all the foods that are available, what would be the point of tagging them in the first place?

i guess i just mean that i have tagged a few things because they weren't in the database and i added them manually myself and tagged them in order to save the information "easily"

however, instead of going to a separate menu to find the tagged item i had previously... i would like to go to the search engine and type in one of my tagged items so it would show up to add to my daily log instead of it being in a separate menu. im not sure if that makes sense.

but i can use other websites that use tags to give examples.

delicious.com is a social bookmarking website that uses tags to define websites you save. when you search for "food" in the search engine to remember websites you've saved with that tag first your links come up and then other users links come up with the same tag. so it searches the entire database for the tag, but first it refers to your saved items first.

same with flickr and other similar sites.

does that make sense? sorry if im not explaining this very well.

It would be nice that if I'm in a particular area that when I hit "Tagged Items" those tagged items would show. For example, if in Activity and I hit the TI button, it brings up my tagged food items, same in recipes. I would also be nice to have your tagged items to the right of the Food Log so you could click them easily and if you could selected multiple tagged items to add to the food log or activity log.

Just my two cents...Undecided

There should also be an easier way to access your friends list other than going through my profile and scrolling to the bottom of the page....

OK; four cents! Smile

I agree it would be nice to be able to search the tagged items. I've added 50+ tagged items. While for the most part I can find things without too much trouble it would be able to do a search on just my tagged items to find a particular food.

For example I have a tagged group of vegetables. This contains most of the frozen veggies that I eat as well as many of the fresh. It would be nice to  be able to search say for only the ones that have broccoli in the name instead of having to look through all 20-30 items. I also tend to group by brands/store so I have some pretty long lists that I have to search through.

I do understand what all of you are saying.  I tagged a recipe that started out as Seafood Fettuccini, however in the process of tagging I also added the word "spinach".  This made is a bit harder to find.  Then I realized I had added "purchased item at XXX Grocery Store."  Aack!  Since this is supposed to be a simple site to navigate, I had made it double hard to find what I was looking for.  I now tag items using the date first:  1/11/09 before the actual name of the item.  It brings it up first in my memory.  In my actions to be accurate I had created a "tagging monster".  Now it's simple.  I bought it or had created it last week, at least I now have some sort of time frame to find it with.

lol

it does sounds like the tagged items could be arranged on the website to improve the functionality of them.

is there a way to submit foods to the database?

You can suggest foods for the database. There's a tab on Foods Menu.  From what I've read on the forums it takes a while for new foods to be added because they try to verify the information first.

that makes sense.

i wish they would just hire users from the site to do this and verify information.

it would be nifty to hire someone who was trying to maintain a healthy lifestyle, because they could enter the foods they eat and use on a daily basis.

my bread doesn't show up in here :( along with other things i've tagged.

like thinly sliced boneless skinless chicken breast cutlets.

An associated request! It would be great if I could tag foods in GROUPS.  I know I can make a recipe, but I always take my coffee with milk and my bread with PB but it seems stupid to make a recipe for that. I just wish I could tag them together and add them at once... maybe a checkbox system, where you can choose from things with the same tag?

Just tag the items with the same tag. For example my main breakfast is oatmeal with sf maple syrup and flax so each of these items are tagged as breakfast1. Lunch is usually 3 oz chicken breast and some mixed veggies they are tagged as Lunch1. Then when I have one of these meals.. I simply click on the plus sign next to that tagged group. Everything in the group is then added to my meal.

Augette,

THANK YOU...THANK YOU...THANK YOU.  I love the site, but was finding it tedious to have to keep putting in individual items for the same breakfast or lunch.  I tagged one of my regular breakfasts and selected the tag for the group and it worked perfectly!  Thanks for sharing...you've saved me a lot of time and frustration!
