For instance, is it easier to burn off the calories from fruit?
Answer
The body prefers to burn glucose, which comes from carbohydrate, and so you could say it’s easier to burn calories from fruit, grains, dairy, vegetables, and added sugar. However, the body’s choice of fuel always depends upon the amount of glucose it has in storage, which depends on the composition and timing of the last few meals, plus the type, intensity and duration of recent activity, as well as the proportion of fat and glucose currently being burned. Instead of picturing your food as being immediately burned for energy, realize that, whenever you eat, all of the nutrients go into storage for extraction as needed sooner or later .
