what easy acoustic songs would...
hey everyone! I'm making my boyfriend a cd for christmas. I'm also making one for my mom. I don't mean like 'putting together a mix cd'- though I'm not great at guitar, I'm tinkering around with 'garageband' on my mac and thought that a more personal gift would be me actually playing and singing the songs (they can't hate it even if it's sub-par because it's so thoughtful! haha). My question is, any good song ideas?? I'm stumped! I'm a relatively beginning guitar player, so nothing Too intense, please!
Thanks SO much
Extreme - "More Than Words"
I played a little guitar and a really easy one was that 4 Non Blondes song "What's goin on?". I annoyed my guitar instructor with that one but I liked it at the time.
Night Moves by Bob Sieger (sp?) is really amazingly easy once you know basic open chords. The strum pattern's pretty easy to pick up too. The verse goes: G F C F G, and keep repeating. The Chorus is Em D C D Em and repeat a few times. You can listen to the song for the chord changes.
Tangled Up In Blue by Bob Dylan also isn't too difficult. I can't remember the tab right off the top of my head but it's all open chords as well.
That's such a thoughtful gift--what a wonderful idea!
I think if you stick with songs that have open chords, you'll be fine. Green Day's "Time of Your Life" is pretty easy (G, C, D, and Em are all you need--I think. It's been a while). Now that I think of it, almost any punk song will be easy (simplicity at its best!). Some Beatles songs are pretty easy ("All My Life" comes to mind), as is John Lennon's "Imagine". Keep an open ear, and you'll find out that it's not that hard to cover a lot of songs--you may not be able to do all the fancy intricate solo parts, but getting the gist of it will go a long way.
Good luck! I hope it works out well.
