I am 48, 208 pounds and have a sackful of health problems. I'm looking for something that's not to energetic because of my health but enough to get me off my fat butt and starting to exercise. Does anyone have some suggestions. I'm looking to start off slow and easy, then build up to more energetic when I get some weight off and some strength built up. Thanks!!!
Walking.
An exercise bike would be a good start. You could also start lifting some very light weights while sitting on the edge of a chair watching TV.
Walking, "Sit and Be Fit" (that chair workout on PBS), or seeing a trainer / nutritionist if that is in your budget. Even simple things like walking to the corner store or grocery are a very good start!
Please don't be nner. then on the left side are different offended because I do these myself and they are a good start of the out of shape and Obese. I am too. On this website go to exercise and to to begginners page. On the left hand side, are some exercise choices, One is sitting sizes for the obese. I am able to do them mostly...LOL and I weigh 20 ibs more then you.
Good luck, start slow and go for it!

walking... also try leslie sansone videos.. you might be able to get them at your library..
Good Luck and remember, start small work up .. I walk with my mom who has bad knees and hip (very large women).. every little bit helps.
Look for, or ask your dr for aqua-fit groups. You don't have to swim laps, just messing about in the water will do wonders. You can excercise while the bouyancy of the water takes the pressure off your joints. You won't feel as conscious in a class with other people trying to lose weight and the instructor will be able to guide your excercises to suit your ability.
Don't overdo it at first. You won't feel the workout as much at the time due to the water taking the weight, but you WILL feel it the second you try to get out of the water. Sore muscles aren't fun. Floaty excercise is :)

i am a female 47 years of age
have back problems and i do these dvd fine
Without a doubt exercise bike..non weight bearing exercise that burns calories and increases cardio fitness. You can go as slow and easy as you want..then move up to faster and harder later on.
