What do you eat? How many calories? and how do you not think about food?
On July 27th I went to my doctors office and she told I was 327lbs, I'm 31 years old and 5'7" I nearly died, so I decided that I would change my life. The doctor just suggested WW Core Plan. Both the hubby and I are big people, but I joined the gym I've been going 5X a week and we are eating so much healthier. I really see he's losing more weight faster than I am. But what I want to know is what is the general amount of calories you consume daily? What do you normally eat? And how do you stop from daydreaming about food all day long? I'm consuming about 1500-1600 calories per day and at the gym I'm buring about 400 calories, 45 mins on the treadmill at 3.0 and 20 mins of strength training. My jeans are alot loser, I'm feeling better my skin is clearer I just haven't weighed myself, since my scale broke a month ago. So I'd like some insight on what everyone is doing. My goal is get to 160lb.

First, congratulations! You are doing all the right things to get healthy. And remember, men tend to lose weight faster than we do, especially initially.
I eat between 1300-1400 calories a day, but I'm 5'4" and started at 171. I usually do a banana and yogurt for breakfast, an apple for a snack mid-morning, something remotely healthy with a salad for lunch (I usually take in Lean Cuisine or Ethnic Gourmet since I eat at my desk at work), a banana in the afternoon and then about 4 oz. lean meat, a cup of veggies and about 1/2 cup of whole grain carbs at dinner. Oh, I also eat a Kashi bar after lunch. Some mornings I switch things up a little and have a vegetarian spinach and mushroom omelet by Cedarlane. My biggest problem is that I really have to watch my sodium intake since I have to somewhat rely on pre-packaged foods for some of my meals. I also drink a cup of hot water w/ the juice of half a lemon first thing in the morning and I drink about 68 ounces of water a day with either real cranberry or black cherry extract (helps flush out the lymphatic system and liver). I can't do a lot of exercise right now due to an ankle and knee injury so your workout schedule is awesome!
Keep it up and feel free to add me to your friends, email if you have any questions.

welcome kinezz!!! :)
i'm eating 1200-1400 calories a day (bumping them up once in a while to keep my metabolism guessing)
i started this weighing in at 324 pounds at 5'3".. i know JUST what you're talking about.. heh..
as for not thinking about food all the time.. it was rough.. i think it took me about 3 months for that to stop.. i'm in the middle of my 6th month and i'm not thinking of food all the time, in fact i just tried to bump up my calories to 1800 (due to a plateau) this last week and found that after about 1600 i couldn't eat any more.. especially since i eat so many veggies and lower cal foods.. it takes time for your body to get used to a lower intake.. but it will get used to it.. :) that's the good news!! :)
and good for you keeping up with the exercising.. it makes SUCH a difference.. :)

Thanks so much for all the help and information and encouragement. I've been doing it since July 27th, I'm going to weigh myself tommorrow morning and I'll post it on here. I just bought a scale today during lunchtime. I know its a slow process, but I just keep telling myself in January 2007, I can be smaller and healthier than I am now, or bigger and have more health problems. I'm going for smaller and healthier. But going to the gym is a major struggle, I'm getting used to it and trying to picture myself in a tankini. But I have to physche myself up for it everytime. We normally go after we both get home from work after dinner around 730pm or 8pm on M,T, Th, Fri, & Sat. I'm not a morning person and I can't do the gym in the morning.
Good luck with the weigh in..let us know! xxx
Welcome.
I've been here since January, losing very slowly. At first I had physical limitations that kept me from exercising, now I'm in a monitored exercise program.
My average calories are around 1450, with a low of 1200 & a high of 1800. I lose an average of 1/2 pound a week. I'm hoping the exercise will accelerate this. So far, I seem to be gaining muscle and losing fat. I can tell because I've lost 4 more inches off my middle since I started exercising, and my clothes fit better.
You'll feel right at home here in no time!
