what to eat at a Chinese Super Buffet that has everything?
If I eat enough of the right thing I have will power to ignore the bad - so what should I get?
Lots of veggies - steamed, if possible. If stir fried, get the ones on top of the dish as the ones at the bottom will have spent more time soaking in oil. Also, try and find some of the leaner cuts of meat, not breaded/battered and ideally not swimming in a sugary sauce. So, chicken with black bean sauce (going easy on the sauce) or beef and broccoli - that kind of thing.
See if they have dessert size plates(small) if they do you use that in place of the dinner plates. See if they have fresh fruit on the dessert bar. If you see something that isn't that healthy but just have to try it try one piece or a 1/4 of scoop instead of a full one. Ask for a bowl of boiling water to dip vegetables and meat in to get the sauce off of to save some calories. If you are uncomfortable that people may see you doing this ask to be seated in a less busier place of the resturant or sit with your back toward the other tables. Lastly avoid fortune cookies and the crunchy noodles the calories are ridiculous.
Enjoy,

OK - I did good.
First a hakf cup of egg drop soup-70 calories.
Then I had steamed salmon and broccoli and some chicken on a stick( boneless skinless thigh).
For dessert I had some cherries, cucumbers, melon and a bite of apple pie.
Not too bad at all.
Good Job!

Uh, I hate to break it to you, but fortune cookies are only 30-35 calories per cookie..I wouldn't call that ridiculous.
Fortune cookies aren't that bad. :\ Some people may not like the taste, though. Also, they're pretty bite-sized so taking a handful should be okay.

Uh I hate to break it to you not all fortune cookies are the same. The one I was given at my local resturant stated 1 cookie was 175 cals right on the package.
When my friends insist on going to a buffet I make sure its one that has part of it as a salad bar and has fresh sushi. I fill up mostly on that but I still go threw the rest of the tables and if I want something instead of taking a serving i take a piece or two. That way I don't feel like I missed out.
Good luck!
Who actually eats the fortune cookies? I personally find them disgusting. They're not worth the calories.
The Chinese super buffet where I live doesn't have things like chicken in black bean sauce, but they do have spring rolls, which are pretty good for you, even if they are fried. Not to be confused with egg rolls, which have a thicker, crunchier wrapper and usually have meat inside. Also, steamed dumplings aren't bad at all. It's the fried ones to watch out for. Sushi rolls are awesome too... just don't eat too many! If it has a mongolian style grill that's a great option. You pick what goes on your food and they cook it in front of you. What could be better? The frest fruit/salad bar is always a wonderful option.
The small fortune cookies have almost no caloric content at all: but I still save them for a treat for my dog Jack, as I think they taste terrible! But he loves them, HA!

Where can I see 1/8th or 1/6th of a pie or angel food cake?
