Eat before exercise, during, after?
When I wake up, I'm generally not hungry. I'd rather exercise. I eat after I exercise, is this bad? How do some of you incorporate exercise and eating into your daily plan and still gain. I want to gain in a healthy way but it seems like I'm eating constantly with no time for exercise and I feel bogged down.
Good luck!
Do whatever works for you. If eat or drink in the 2 hours before working out, I get a terrible stitch in my side and can't continue, so working out on an empty stomach works for me. Others might find they need to eat to have the energy. Do whatever works for you consistiently, it won't make much of a difference in the long term.
First of all, I don't want to burn anything, I just don't want to feel bloated.
Also I was wondering if it's okay that I break a sweat or do I want to stick to light exercise that won't break a sweat. Do you use more calories when you sweat?
Didn't make my calorie goal today and I feel sick and full. Ugh...only got to around 1700.
This is harder than I thought it'd be.
I am a little confused by the thought of not wanting to burn anything. But, with that thought in mind... I am trying to lose weight and I monitor my heart rate. I have been told and so far it truly works for me, that if you exercise with a consistent heart rate between about 120 to 140 bpm, for 30 minutes or more, you are in an optimal fat-burning zone. If you accelerate your exercise to a higher heart rate, you are training your cardio vascular system rather than putting yourself in a weight loss mode. So, I do heavy cardio a couple times a week and keep it light in between (120 -140) on alternating days. This seems to do everything I am trying to do, increasing overall health and stamina as well as focusing some of that week's workouts toward weight loss.
As far as eating before or after your workout I agree that really, you should listen to your body. One thing mutritionist did recommend for me though, because I am a get up and work out before I eat kind of a person too (Bloated heavy icky feeling otherwise) is to make sure that I DO eat within about 30 minutes of returning to a normal heart rate/resting state. But I make sure it is a light and well-rounded meal ... Cup of raisin bran, half cup of Omega 3 Silk, half a cup apple. Or yogurt and an apple with a slice of double fiber toast and strawberry jam.
As far as sweating ... that is just your body trying to cool itself down. If you are drinking the proper amoutns of fluids, you will sweat properly. Sweat is not necessarily a bad thing :)
Anyway, there's my .02 and somewhere in the duration of starting and finishing this post, I got halfway through building the new treadmill I bought today ... speaking of sweating .. gonna finish that build and see how it all works! Woo hoo!
Best of luck to you and I am here if ya' need me.
