How can I eat healthy in a restaurant?
Asked by anonymous on Nov 30, 2008 in Weight Loss

I have to eat out 90% of the time.  How can I lose weight with so many restaurant meals?

Answer

To survive in a restaurant, watch what you order and limit your portions.  Order only dishes that feature vegetables and lean meat or fish, and skip items described as deep-fried or prepared with butter, cream, cheese, or gravy.  Forgo calorie-laden extras such as full-fat salad dressing, butter, sour cream, and mayonnaise, and do not waste calories on beverages, bread, alcohol, or dessert.  Reduce portions by ordering two appetizers or an appetizer and a salad as your meal, or share one entrée with two people or leave half on your plate.  Choose authentic Asian restaurants that are more likely to serve healthy food, and get the menu ahead of time or online to plan your order before you arrive.
