Do YOU eat when your NOT hungry?
Say, if your on a specific meal plan throughout the day and when lunch, dinner, or supper comes you feel full and your not hungry at all...do you still eat?

no.

Everyones pretty much different though, some people like to eat every 3 hours and my mom and my bf's mom do that, and when it comes like near the 3 hour mark theyre ALWAYS hungry for the meal because your body is getting used to eating every so often

but for me, its tough to even have meal plans because of this reason. maybe its because im a teen though. some days im alot hungrier then others. some days i dont get hungry. and like the times that i get hungry at change through out the week?

but NO i dont eat when im not hungry..can turn into a bad habit
Guilty.

I eat when I am not hungry, out of habitual eating. Like, I'm bored.
But as of late it's mostly celery or oatmeal cereal... so not as bad as the other stuff I used to snack on.

But yeah, I tend to eat when not hungry, mostly 'cause I snack too much though. :/

Yes, because otherwise I wouldn't eat enough.

Yes, because if I don't, then I end up getting REALLY hungry without realizing it and then eat way too much. For now, anyway, I have set snack/meal times and I stick to them +/- a half hour or so. It keeps my body happy and prevents me from ever actually being hungry.

Ya, im always hungry at every 2-3 hour mark as well, i always look forward to my next meal.

yes, like i ended up going to a movie tonight and hadn't enough enough so i am now trying to get up to the 1200 cal mark. only thing is that i don't keep high cal foods on hand for various reasons so i feel a littel uncomfortable right now.

Only when I am at home. If I am with my family and we are either 'sitting down' to a dinner someone cooked or having take out, I feel compelled to eat with them. Maybe because I just feel like I have to keep them company and/or show appreciation for the meal.

I am EXTREMELY glad I have gotten away from that now. Living in a single dorm really lets me do whatever I want. And if I'm not hungry, I simply do something else for a few hours. I end up eating much less and being just as satisfied by the end of the day.

I have a pretty set eating schedule.  And the way I have it planned out it makes sure i'm getting the proper amount of calories.

However, I do still get times that I want to eat that are outside of this schedule even when I know I'm not hungry.  Like last night.  But I chewed on a piece of gum to get past it.

So basically, I will eat hungry or not when its my "times" to eat, but other than that I am working on not eating just because.

Of course, i also never truly reach that feeling of full anymore, either...I hit the point of satisfied, and then I'm good.

I know that you have had some trouble keeping your calories up and want to gain some weight, so yes you should still eat.  Every once in a while, when not feeling well, I go under but usually end up going over my calories the next day.  Just make sure you get your minimal calories in on a consistant basis, once a month won't hurt (just don't make it a habbit skipping meals).  I'd say if you're really not hungry at all to at least drink a smoothie so you can get your vitamins in.
Yeah, I do.

Mostly because I have to, recovering from an eating disorder. I don't wanna get yelled at by my nutritionist ;)

Yep. I am diabetic and need to carefully manage my meds and blood sugar.

=^..^= MOLLY

If I'm way under my calories for the day then yeah, either that or leave it for a few hours and eat later :). But I try to make sure I get my 1200 before I get to sleep at night, even if I'm not hungry.

All the time.

I eat out every single meal, usually with people -- and its hard to coordinate it so that everyone is hungry.

Also, in b/w classes -- ie. i know i have a long 2 hour lab coming up, i dont want to be hungry during it, so i have to eat (even though im not hungry yet)

Lastly, I have the worst worst sweet tooth!! I always crave sweets, even if I'm not hungry, and I'm not always strong enough to withstand it..... !!
i posted about this a long while ago...and for me, if i waited until i was hungry, i might eat twice a day, for whatever reason. so i pretty much eat on a time-clock now
i do some cuz if i don't, i'll eat like 300 cal a day
Sometimes, like after dinner I may want something sweet, but I'm not always physically hungry for it.

Yeah, I do.  And I beat myself up about it.

My problem is that I have always had the bad habit of eating out of boredom or avoidance.  So for the past few weeks I've really been trying to step up and kick that bad awful habit.  I eat about 5 small meals a day at very specific times to try and conquer that.  And its working EXTREMELY well.

What I'm now finding though is that when its time for my scheduled meal, and I'm not hungry for it, I'll give myself a great big pat on the back.  I'll say to myself, see?  You can recognize what it feels like to not be hungry, and not need to eat food just cause its there.  And then, the food that I brought to work for my 2 pm snack calls out to me.  I'm not hungry, but I know its in my office fridge and that per my 5 meal a day plan and 1200 calorie plan I am ALLOWED to eat it, so it nags at me until I do eat it.

I guess what I'm saying is that I feel guilty for eating it even though I'm still within my calorie limits, because I'm just not getting it that I dont have to eat when I'm not hungry!

Sometimes this happens when I'm supposed to be eating dinner.

I don't usually come home until really late and by the time my dinner is made, I'm just not hungry enough to match my daily calorie requirement. I have to kind of force myself to eat more.

However, I know the solution to this problem is to eat more during the day and leave less calories available for dinner. But I'm just too lazy to prepare a larger meal for lunch ahead of time.

yes. im still technically a teen and i dont want to undernourish myself.
