Eat like a queen, princess, peasant...

Quote  |  Reply
I'm wondering if anyone else has ever heard of this.  My fiance has been following this idea for about two weeks now, and he says he has never felt better.  For him, it's eat like a King, Prince, and Peasant...

He eats a large breakfast, something that sticks with him until after 12:00.  Then a smaller lunch, by about 300 calories (for him). And then, for dinner he eats something small and light, usually fruit or a salad.

I've been doing this for about two days now and I feel a lot better also.  I am not an expert, and I really haven't done much reasearch and this style of eating but I feel less lethargic during the day and it's easier to get to sleep at night.  Plus you always go to bed with the promise of basically whatever you want for breakfast the next day (within reason) :)

Let me know what ya'll think!

I think that as long as you're getting the appropriate amount of calories, it sounds like a pretty good idea! Most people don't do alot of strenuous activites after dinner time, so it could help to avoid packing on the pounds later in the day.

May give this one a try! Thanks for the tip!
i think thats the best eating pattern going, not just because thats how our family eats, but because a lot of other cultures have proven that to be the healthiest.  i know some people may not agree and thats okay, not everyone is the same, different strokes for different folks....dont you just hate that saying? anyway, I am a follower of this regime
A lot of research seems to say that eating more in the morning is better than eating more at night.  Your metabolism needs to be waken up after sleeping.

So the idea behind it is good.  As stated, as long as you are eating healthy and a good amount of calories, then there is no harm.
i like this. i have been slowly adjusting myself to do this.
I like this, too, and will give it a try, though I usually oversleep and fly out of the house at the last minute, I am trying to turn over a new leaf.

Living in Germany, we sort of ate a bit like this (but in general, all meals were just much lighter fare than what we're accustomed to in America).  My typical German day's fare:
Breakfast:  rye crisp bread with cheese and fruit, and juice or coffee
Lunch:  soup, salad with vinagrette, a baked potato, and mineral water
Kaffeekuchen (a bit like the UK's teatime): coffee and a bit of tart and/or cheese
Dinner:  cold cuts with bread and cheese, and sliced tomatoes and peppers, with mineral water, juice or wine

Add to that walking most everywhere, and it's little wonder that Europeans are so much more slender...or rather, were before the influx of McD's, KFC and the like.

A woman wrote a book about this kind of eating pattern called The Reverse Diet.  Very clever really.
That does make sense.  Maybe i'll give it a try......the hard part is I like to "save" calories for a late night snack....hmmmm
I've actually been eating like this for the past few days. It seems to me thats I suddenly have more energy when I get home from school than I use to...which is fine by me. My only problem is making sure I eat enough for lunch and breakfast because dinner isn't ever in my hands...so my calories are usually may be in the red for being low. It really is nice to have a big breakfast in the morning though, especially after waking up from a nice night's sleep.
oh, thank goodness i'm not crazy!!! :D I've been eating like this for a couple of years now, totally on accident, and i thought it was bad for me. i dont know why. but i've been trying to change it, eating less for breakfast etc, but i couldnt! i woudl be starving all morning after having only like oatmeal and a banana, and by lunch, i would feel SO bloated after eating the sandwich, apple, and crackers i packed. and by dinnertime, i was starving and nothing seemed to fulfill my appetite. now, i wake up in the morning hungry, eat a good, big breakfast, pack a good lunch, and eat until i'm full at night (which is usually only like 200 calories). i dont understand why it works, but i feel gross any other way.
The Reverse diet is eating Dinner foods at Breakfast, medium lunch and eating breakfast for dinner....
I'm going to Germany in a few months, and I'm so glad lidan wrote out what the usual menu is like. I've been so worried it'd be fatty sausages and greasy potatoes---which I'm sure you could find----but I can't eat that way because I have gallbladder problems.

I think that sounds good, as long as it's balanced. For me, if it was too carbo-loaded in the morning I'd be napping in the mid-day. But you need food for energy when you are awake not when you are sleeping. It just makes sense.
