do you eat like royalty for breakfast?
Hi guys,
I'm wondering how many calories people average for breakfast?
I'm a big breakfast eater....but I'm wondering how big is too big...
It depends whether or not I'm going to work right afterwards or not (I work as a hostess and the day shift is 11-4:30, so whatever I eat before I leave is all I get to eat until dinner). If I'm not, my breakfast is usually between 200-300. If I am, it's usually around 400-450. But I've never been a big breakfast person--it's fine to have a big breakfast as long as you're still making your calories for the day!
My average is between 320 and 350: banana, kashi golean vanilla made with unsweetened Almond Breeze and pumpkin, coffee with turbinado sugar and creamer. Exact count varies based on size of banana.
I eat three regular meals with three small snacks during the day, and that size works for me.
And how big is "too big" depends on the person and their calorie requirements. If you're incorporating a plan that consists of 6 small meals a day, then over 300 might be too much (but again, it depends on your individual calorie requirements).
I've actually scaled back a lot because I eat so frequently (literally like 6 to 8 times a day). My perfect-feel combination is oatmeal with frozen mixed berries/or strawberries/ or a chopped apple, and yog. mixed in.
On days that I'm shooting for more calories, I add a lot of protein in with it.
I try to keep it under 300, my favorite is one egg white with half a slice of american cheese, one piece of turkey bacon on a light multigrain english muffin, with an iced coffee..its the best! so filling and under 300 cals
I've heard it's much better to eat more in the morning and then slowly eat less the rest of the day, but I am actually normally not hungry in the morning. I have been having 1 Slimfast shake everyday for breakfast for about a year, I love those things so much and they do keep my hunger to a minimum.
For breakfast I usually eat anywhere between 340-540 calories a day. It depends on what I'm having for breakfast, as I often like to at least change which cereal I eat from day-to-day. However, I eat a bunch of snacks throughout the day and maybe another actual meal, so breakfast usually does end up being the largest meal I've had for the day.
I like it that way. =D I have no problem eating less the further the day goes on; it's early on during the day that I really want to eat.
During the school year, my breakfast was usually 400-ish calories, and now it's around the same but broken up--I eat a bit of it first thing in the morning and the rest a few hours later.
if i have two breakfasts, it's probably something like kashi golean crunch with skim at 7am and then a two-egg (one yolk) omelet with cheese at 11.
Almost always under 300 for me. Breakfast is usually fruit (grapefruit or an apple) and a protein bar (170cals) or special K waffles with 1tsp margarine (190cals).
Sometimes if i know it's gonna be a long time till lunch, I'll have a huge bowl of cereal (3 servings) and skim milk, so that takes me up to almost 400.
for me:
1 cup cooked oats (steel cut or regular, depends on day) and then I put some sort of fruit in there... either a banana, or frozen berries or pumpkins once in a while.
egg white scramble w/ lots of peppers and onions and salsa.
On Saturday, since its my 2.5hr workout morning, I'll add a banana.
Breakfast is definitely my biggest meal.
