Can I eat to lose weight while being testing for food allergies?

I am a male, 5’10” and 195 lbs. Every time I embark on a exercise plan my skin breaks out in eczema. Creams and steroids all have limited success, and so my doctor has advised me to start a food elimination plan to see if it is food related. (e.g. one type of meat and 2 types of fruit or vegetables for 3 days, then 2 meats and 4 fruits or veggies, etc. How do I do this in practical terms whilst maintaining enough energy to train in gym and maintain good weight loss?
Answer
You can continue to count calories and eat enough food for energy during a food isolation diet, but when you journal, be sure to note your exercise and the environmental conditions too. Eczema is an itchy inflammation of the skin often triggered by excessive perspiration, sun exposure and food allergies. When eczema is difficult to control, supervised food allergy testing is indicated. The foods most commonly associated with eczema are milk, egg, fish, soy, peanut, and wheat. But realize that food allergy testing can result in false positives, and so it’s important to reconfirm the tests. (For instance, a cow’s milk allergy can produce a false positive test result for beef.) Read about elimination diets to test for food allergies at About.com.
