What do you eat for lunch???

Quote  |  Reply
im 15 and am in high school, and i always have trouble figuring out what to eat for lunch. i usually bring water and apple, a special k bar and a yogurt which equals about 300 calories. i was wondering how i could incorporate more protein into my lunch so i could feel full for longer. i eat breakfast at 6, a bowl of oatmeal and by 12 when i have lunch i am starving!! i want something healthy, but also with protein that i could bring for lunch

Try a sandwhich with meat, cheese, or pb. (avoid fish and eggs if you don't want to disturb others) Or you could bring a frozen healthy meal of some kind. Instead of a special K bar (aka sugar) try a snack size protein bar, or even a meal supplement bar. Try adding protein to your breakfast too, because it will keep you satisfied longer. Milk, yogurt, cottage cheese, nuts, protein powder, eggs, turkey bacon are quick and easy for breakfast.

If you have the time, try and prepare a small salad with some grilled chicken the night before school and bring some lowfat lite caesar dressing. That's what I usually do. Or you can just bring some protein high snack bars.

my school makes sandwiches there for us, so I ask for a turkey, provalone, tomato and mustard sandwich on whole wheat.  this generally keeps me full for the rest of the day until I get out of school.

peanut butter would help you, i dont eat red meat so i lack a lot of protien too, i try to eat something with meat in it everyday but its hard sometimes. sara lee has a low cal bread now and you can get low cal lunch meat (turkey or bologna or ham) and have a little sandwich that would run you around 120 cal total and totally fill you up, add that in the mix somewhere and maybe some Activia yogurt for some reason that fills me up a lot! i have been eating a special k bar and a activia for breakfast, and a turkey sandwich or fat free hotdog(actually really good) with a hand full or chips or pretzels and then throw in a 100 cal snack a little later and you should be good to go. you dont have to starve just watch the cals!! ive been dieting forever it seems so i know a lot of tricks of the trade and i pack my lunch for work almost everyday. let me know if you need any other tips.

I take a turkey or ham sandwich pretty much every day; occasionally canned tuna with wasa crispbreads. Leftovers or lean cuisines are a good idea, too.

Haha. Yeah, eggs are a really bad idea if you care about offending people. I used to take hardboiled eggs, and a bunch of people would complain about "that smell" when they passed by my locker. xD

I have a daughter that is your age. She really likes to eat tortilla roll up sandwiches. Now that there are 96% fat free whole wheat tortillas out there, that can help cut calories and still add good carbs as well as whole grain. Add a little turkey breast and shredded cheese, lettuce and fat free mayo...and wellah...a salad and a sandwich! Add in a piece of fruit to add some good sugars (plus it helps you feel like you have treated yourself with dessert!) Good luck! Remember if you are happy and excited about what you are eating at school you may just encourage someone else to eat healthier, tooWink

i like mixing cottage cheese with tuna &putting it over lettuce.

but i ran out of cottage cheese. =(

I found that the most filling food especially for lunch to tie me over was greens.  lots and lots of greens.  so i'd say stick to a simple salad and make it interesting and easy to make by adding in like grapes or something.

at school i usually have a sandwich with whole wheat bread, lots of romaine lettuce, a slice of veggie cheese and veggie bologna.  I might have a low fat yogurt or an apple or other fruit.  a really great yogurt is silhouette 0% which only has 40 calories per serving.  whoopie!

good luck :)

just add tons and tons of baby carrots, cherry tomatoes, and cucumber to wat u usually bring. u wont feel hungry

I usually eat a special k bar for breakfast during around 2nd period(8:00) at school since I'm not hungry when I wake up and I don't have lunch till 12. So for lunch I love to bring mini wheat pitas and hummus which is really low cal and I also like cottage cheese with low fat jelly. It's practically like a dessert!

the luch i ate today was tasty and simple and portable

Lunch: some boiled chicken thigh, a small baked potato with a lil bit of ketchup, some lettuce. a tomato. diet coke. YUMMO.

Well, 1 packet of oatmeal is 100 cals, and 1 serving of regular oats is 150..so that's not very substantial to last you 6 hours. so i'd boost up the breakfast first thing. add some peanut butter and nuts to your oatmeal and have a glass of milk with it. or have hard boiled egg or toast with peanut butter with it.

for lunch you're basically having a snack...yogurt and a special k bar is not substantial at all. you'd be better off with a pb and j sandwich with a banana and trail mix.

you're basically not eating enough calories to sustain you in the first place...so i'd start there and get a better balance.

wraps are great...fill it with lean protein and veggies.

have trail mix/nuts/dried fruits for snacks

ww crackers/toast/dry cereal

yogurt/string cheese/soy milk (no refrigeration required)

I hope this helps!!

If I am at home, a wholemeal tortilla with ricotta, chicken and grated carrot.

If i am at school, nothing.
