What do you eat at a mexican resturant on CC?
Chicken tacos should be pretty guilt free, especially on soft tortillas instead of crunchy, and skip the sour cream and cheese. Mexican food is very healthy as long as you stay away from dairy and deep frying and go for proteins leaner than ground beef. Tonight I "pigged" out on roast pork tacos on soft corn tortillas with some fat-free refried beans, guacamole and salsa. High protein, low fat (except the guac, but that's good fat), and very tasty!
Grilled Chicken fajitas, avoid the beans-they are lard laden at most Mexican Restaurants. Have a salad instead of the rice, unless you can find an equivalent on CC for a idea on how much you can have. Be able to guestimate the portions as well. Check in advance what a 1/2 cup looks like. Box up 1/2 your food before you even start to eat. Leftovers tomorrow! Eat slowly and savor each bite.
I had a mexican downfall last night. We all went out to celebrate one of our friend's birthdays. She originally wanted to go to this new Italian place. So I got online, figured out how many calories I'd need for spaghetti and marinara sauce and planned my day accordingly. Got a call on the way home from work that the Italian place was not in fact open yet, so she wanted to go to Rio to eat Mexican.
I swear, I'd do okay at Mexican places if it weren't for the truckloads of chips and salsa. ~crazy~
chicken tacos are pretty good for you! load them up with the lettuce and tomatoes, skip the sour cream and guacamole and only have a pinch of cheese and you're fine!
i also really love shrimp fajitas which are also pretty guilt free. one or two flour tortillas every now and then aren't going to kill you or your weight loss efforts!
I find Mexican food to be incredibly filling so I don't usually worry about what I get. I tend to get huevos rancheros though. I usually only eat about 1/3 of it so I figure it's not too bad.
Lean Cuisine Enchilada Suiza!!
I have an 85 % chance of going to El Rincon my favorite local Mexican joint tonight. I love their margaritas but I have to work at 11 pm tonight so I'm sticking w/ a diet lol so that is like saving myself 300 calories right there. I don't eat fried food so I wont eat the chips and salsa so there is another hundred calories saved. I like their salad i normally get a salad and like one cheese enchilada. I'm a vegetarian so I can't be as lean with protein as others can. Oh I love Mexican haha

Actually soft flour tortillas have more calories that crunchy.
Fish Tacos, or Fish burritos, oh hell burritos in general. Mmm chicken, rice, black bean burrito with salsa.
UD
stick to corn tortillas, skip the cream and cheese, load up on salsa and add lime juice for an extra layer of flavor.
As far as chips and salsa, you can ask the restaurant to bring you one or two toasted corn tortillas instead of the fried chips.. the difference is considerable and definitely healthier.
I personally like guacamole, however some restaurants call guacamole a mix of cream and guacamole which is NOT real guacamole.. real guacamole should be mashed (but chunky) avocados, tomatos, onion, bell pepper, jalapeños, lime juice.. see if you can get some real guacamole instead of the creamy version. If they don't have it, ask for a couple of slices of avocado and use this instead. Way healthier.
Ah, I should have specified soft CORN tortillas, not flour.
