How can I eat with my picky family and still lose weight?
Asked by anonymous on Nov 16, 2008 in Family & Pregnancy

How do I loose weight with a husband who refuses to eat anything green and an 11 year old that eats everything? Do I need to make three separate meals three times a day, or just give up? I am at my wits end!

Answer

Cook something for yourself to eat for several days, such as a fresh soup or full meal salad with veggies, whole grains and beans. Serve your family the simple meals they prefer and take from their food only what you want to eat.  Anyone who doesn’t like the dinner can fix something  for himself like a healthy frozen entrée or a bowl of cereal and milk. Do not buy junk food so it's not an option, and close the kitchen after dinner until your son's bedtime snack. Perhaps your son will learn to eat healthy food from your example, but don't expect your husband to change. Read how Calorie Count members handle picky family members in the community forums.
