What should I eat to prevent bloating?
Asked by anonymous on Jun 03, 2009 in Weight Maintenance

I am getting married soon, and in the days before my wedding day, I want to make sure I'm not bloated.  My dress fits, but if I'm bloated or puffy, its uncomfortable. What foods will help me best avoid bloating or excess water weight on my big day?

Answer

To prevent total body bloating or water retention, limit your sodium intake to 2,300 mg a day on the days leading up to your wedding and control the amount of simple sugar and refined carbohydrates (i.e. desserts) and alcohol you eat.  To prevent abdominal bloating, avoid gassy foods, like legumes (beans), cruciferous vegetables and anything that bothers you, as well as unripened dairy products when lactose intolerance is a problem and sugar alcohols in excess.
