I am 15 and 96lb ish 5ft 2 ish. I realized i started to grow again this spring. I really want to help on that because i will probably never grow anymore after 16. And i checked on a kids nutrition site it says i need around 1900 cals to maintain. should i listen to them? because I was eating 800 before and i'm scared i'll be fatter. I know i was treating myself too badly so now i eat around 1500 ish.
sorry for the long post so my question is that must I eat that much calorie to do the best to help me grow?
and
Should i trust the kid nutrtion calorie or this CC one(which tells me i need about 1700?

Yes. You're still growing. I was still getting taller at 18.
i woudl take more notice of the kids nutrition and i would even recommend not paying to much attention the cals you are eating
this may be hard for you but try not to worry! eat well balanced, healhty and nutritious foods to keep you strong and confident! maybe start learning about what foods do and why you need them etc... take a hobby and keep active...
you are still very young and shouldn't be concerned about things liek this just yet!!

Yes, you must eat that many calories to grow properly.
Trust the kid's site, without a doubt - calorie-count.com isn't meant for kids, teenagers, or young adults, as it does not account for the calories necessary to grow.
As a 15 year old, you need the proper nutrition to grow taller and fill out into an adult body. You'll gain a bit of weight, but as long as you eat healthy, it will not be fat - it'll just be you becoming an adult! Eat healthy and don't worry about the scale.

Adolescent growth is not just about growing taller!!! Please understand this. You need extra calories to:
1) Grow a smarter brain: your brain right now is growing at a rate faster than when you were an infant!! It's amazing just how much your brain is growing, and will continue to grow, until about age 21.
2) Grow denser bones: until about age 25 or 30, your body will have the best chance of building bone mass. This mass has weight that shows up on the scale, but doesn't affect how your clothes fit. You really WANT to grow denser bones, because after age 25 or 30, it's all pretty much downhill. If you ever get pregnant, your body will draw from your bones for calcium and other minerals. As you age, you lose a little bit of bone each year. If you don't make the most of the next decade and build stronger bones, then you are setting yourself up for osteoporosis, the scourge of women who dieted too much in their teens and twenties. It is an absolutely crippling disease, and a lousy way to spend your later years.
3) Grow stronger muscles: which also shows up as weight on the scale, but stronger muscles take up less room then fat, so your clothes fit better. As with your bones, you are in prime muscle-building mode for the next decade. After that, you lose a bit of muscle each year, which is why your parents have a slower metabolism than you do, and why it is oh so much easier for them to gain weight on the same amount of calories year after year.
So please... do not diet! Eat what the teen site suggested, and no less. If you are concerned about how your clothes fit and how you look, get moving and exercise instead. But don't diet, not until you're at least 18, and frankly, since you are only 96 lbs, probably not until after you are 21.

Yes, eat it up while you can!!! :)
When I was your age, I ate 200 calories a day. I caused myself a lot of health problems and I am lucky I made it through. You wont get fat if you eat more, especially if you eat the amount you need to maintain, you'll stay the same, and your body will thank you. I went from 200 calories a day to 1900 when I was 16 and my body was very pleased and I didn't gain any weight!

EAT!! I went from 1200 to 2000 and i CANT PUT ON WEIGHT. I am quite active tho, so my number isnt as exact. At first its a bit slow, and mayeb you'll gain like a bit but keep going. Seriously. AS long as your healthy your body will adapt (so dont eat the extra in icecream~!)
but also dnt go from 800 straight away. Increase by 100 cal on the first 5 days, then 50 cal from there - and make it metabolism boosting healthy food (lots more fruit and nuts and freshness) that way your body will be super happy

As a guideline, a person that is 5 feet should weigh at least 100lbs and add 5 lbs for every inch over that. You're under weight - and need to eat. As for "not getting fatter," you may need to tone, but according to the information you gave, you are not fat.
EAT. You can't mature properly if you don't. Think like this. If you eat more than you have the fuel to do more. Adults get fat because we are encourgaged not to move so much. If you don't get lazy and keep moving you won't have to worry so much about getting fat. As if that is the worst thing that can happen. LOL. M.
thanks alot guys :)
