Is it okay to eat sweets everyday if it's in small amounts?

I really like ice-cream. I have found that if I allow myself 1/2 cup on a daily basis, then I stay on my diet. If I deprive myself, then I wind up binge eating. Is it okay to include this sweet treat on a daily basis?

Yes, it is fine to eat small amounts of sweets everyday. In fact, if you treat yourself to "forbidden foods” you will keep from feeling deprived. And since deprivation leads to binging, and binging often means the end of the diet, then making room for treats can lead to diet success – as you have seen!
