What should I eat today?
Asked by anonymous on Oct 29, 2009 in Weight Loss

I just logged my first meal and have don't know what to plan for the rest of the day.

Answer

Read about how to plan a simple diet based on the food groups in My Pyramid, and then make those foods fit into your calorie target for the day.  For instance, if you have a budget of 1400 calories, and for breakfast, you eat 1 cup of Wheaties, 1 cup pf skim milk and half a large banana, then over the rest of the day, plan to eat 1 cup of fruit, 1.5 cups of vegetables, 4 ounces of grains, 4 ounces of meat or beans, 1 cup of milk, 4 tsp. of oil (in cooking and as a dressing like mayonnaise), and 170 additional calories to use however you'd like.  Plan your meals for several days until you get the hang of it because the experience is invaluable; however, you are not locked in to any one plan because calorie counting is flexible.
