What did you eat today? (Weight Gain Style)

Quote  |  Reply

So I thought maybe this could be beneficial to a lot of us.
Because I know I like going on the "What did you eat today?" thread and getting ideas for meals.

And frankly I would like to know what other people who are trying to gain eat in a day because it's been pretty hard for me to try to fit all those calories in a single day.

And since everyone here is trying to gain weight we won't feel bad when what we ate today is 1,000 calories higher than everyone else. Haha.

Don't be shy and don't hesitate to include amounts. I want to know how everyone else does it. ;)

Except most of those posts are hardly true weight gain menus.  They are mostly ED recovery, and while I commend the challenges they face, the intakes and choices there are closer to your standard diet meal plan than even a normal maintenance eating style.

I'd love to have a thread full of true weight gain style eating!

haha. i guess there is one already. opps. :) i checked it out.
it kinda seems like there is more taking about gaining than actual meals plans there though.

WHEN I FLY-ITS tunred into a community where ppl post there menus, which range since ppl are is diff places in there recovery.  some ppl are eating 3300+ccals while others ares till struggling to eat maintenance before increasing.  its worth taking a look i think,

 Agru-

Rereading my post, I can see how it might have come across as insensitive to those of you courageous ED-overcomers.  I did not at all intend to insinuate that it's a "bad meal thread" because of the ED theme, and I hope you didn't take it that way and feel hurt or offended.

I mainly wanted to clarify for someone, possibly new, because it IS an entirely different focus trying to eat to gain after ED than just solely weight gain.  For those of us trying to gain weight without having to fight off an ED it's not about having a fear of big mystery dishes or too many carbs, but moreso the opposite [how can I find more of some weight gain food, not did I eat too many!] in addition to the fact that the overall makeup of those recovering from ED tends to still stick to diet types of foods [low fat, "clean", etc.].  Again, not to say you aren't making progress or doing what you have to do--but the goal is more about overcoming the ED than the posting of a weight gain daily and I was just clarifying that.

TUFFSTUFF- no offense taken.  im wondering tho, how do you fill in the cals?  do you drink ensure type drinks?  do you just eat out a lot?

i'm interested in what a days meal plan looks like for you non ED folk! will someone volunteer a days grub? tuffstuff - i hear your shooting for around 4000 cals a day, what does that look like?

officially intriguedSmile

suzy roo xxxx

Well, an example breakfast would be 8 bowls of cereal + granola + milk,  2 slices toast with 2tb pb on each, tall glass of juice, and some cottage cheese mixed with honey.

Then some graham crackers to munch on when I started going over some stuff on the computer...

Like I said on the other thread, eating isn't that hard unless you make it.  Find something to eat and eat as much as you can of it.  Make a game of how many ways you can sneak calories in.

Don't let yourself think about it because there will ALWAYS be a concern.  The anxiety and fear won't go away until you just stop letting yourself even argue with the ED and just start doing it--practicing your bigtime life until the results kick in and you rock with it.

i secnod tuff stuff graham crackers go down so easily its amazing.macamamia nuts are your new best friend. ice cream is your new best friend. yogurt if you like it .go for the fruit flavored full fat variety. juice and granola are absolutly amazing.asian hot cereal really works for me its so watery and its a nutritious three grain blend.try to push back the ED voice as much as you can and go for the 130-150 calorie a slice sandwich bread.get yourself some gourmet cheese or some almond butter.

I'm interested in this too! I would like to see more examples of 4000 calorie mealplans. I'm at 3-4000 a day, and sometimes I feel a bit piggish posting on the other site haha. But I know it helps others to see what I'm eating and hopefully I am encouraging others to eat more. It is still hard to fight the eating disorder in me that tells me I'm eating too much, but when I feel like that I have to just see it the way I see any other responsability I don't want to do, like studying or going to work.

meesh, i love almond butter and wm yogurt!! Have you ever mixed ice cream with almond or peanut butter and topped with granola, OMG!

tuffstuff- how do you fit 8 bowls of cereal into your stomach?? wow, that's impressive. I just pack everything I can into my oatmeals to make them really calorie dense.
