OK, step one.. let go of the guilt. You binged. That sucks. Definitely something to work on. But.. beating yourself up for it won't help.

Step two.. try to do your best the rest of the day. Exercise a little more. Try to eat light meals. DO NOT STARVE YOURSELF.

Step three... do better tomorrow. One day will not make or break a diet.

I'm sorry that things are not going well.  hopefully you will feel better tomorrow...there is always tomorrow.  With that said, you are right...you cannot go the whole day without eating....eat if you feel hungry...just get back on the wagon...tomorrow....

How many calories are you aiming to eat each day?

Hey, you are not alone!  I have had a very similar three days, and I am pretty much in the same boat!

I am trying to lose a few lbs at the moment - about 10lbs - and I find it very hard to regain control like this once I have started.  I find cereal is the killer.  I have just joined the ' 6 lbs by valentines day ' post for a bit of fun and maybe help with regaining control and 'fessing up1  How about you join too and we can sipport each other with getting back on track tomorrow and enjoying food rather than envying it?!

Hope you are feeling a bit better by now, what is done is done - draw the metaphorical line:

--------------------------------------------- --------------------------------

Right!  Clean slate, you are all set to go again!

My advice would be to eat light the rest of the day. Youre right, you cant go the rest of the day without eating. For lunch today, treat yourself to a salad, have a snack of fruit and nuts later on, and for dinner eat whatever you normally would but stick with small portions. A good work out would probably also make you feel better.

Tomorrow morning, eat a good balanced breakfast. In the morning if you feel like you need to eat A LOT, try foods that are less calorie dense, so you can have A LOT of them. 4 egg whites peppers and mushrooms, a piece of toast, a serving of light yogurt (maybe with some granola on top)?  All of that would be roughly 250 cals-and you could even grab a piece of fruit on your way out the door. :)

thanks guys...

jembop, i am in def. in the same boat as you!! i am trying to lose about 10 pounds also. the past 3 days have been terrible!! i have pretty much overeaten/binged each day on junk food. i've been craving it lately!! i was so good last week, but we went out for friends' bdays on saturday and since then, it's been SO hard to say no to junk.... CC says i should be eating about 1400 each day, but i've been eating about 1200 each day. and i know this is the bare min. but i have dieted several times now and that seems to work for me. anyway, thanks for the advice guys.... it does suck that i've eaten so much this morning, but i just have to MOVE ON....siiiiigh*

Just my two cents - if you are aiming for 1200 but you are binging each day for the past three days, then 1200/day is not working for you. Personally, I'd rather have slightly slower weight loss (eat a little more) and not get into a situation where I've eating 1200 calories by 10:30am. But again, that's just my opinion.

lets changed our goal to 9 lb or 11 lb - maybe the ' 10lb ' goal comes weird some weird psycology and curse lol!

I too was doing well last week, so we have both shown ourselves we can do it, we just need to keep it up!

Tomorrow is another day and anything we have eaten in the last 3 is not as bad as it could be if we carry it on for day 4!

feel free to pm me if you have a q / prob.

Onwards and downwards . . . . ; )

i've eaten almost my entire day's calories and it's almost 11am. i've been eating almost all my days calories by 7am on days i have school. it's really no fun. i realized something i've been missing is a consistant, filling breakfast. that might be what you're missing too, i'm not sure. as others said, it'd be best to eat light for the rest of the day. i have to do the same myself today...

at least i'm not alone!! i agree on the breakfast part. i have been having egg whites and 1/2 a whole grain bagel most mornings....that's the thing...i'm sick of it!!! BUT if i have something the variates from my routine, i start having cravings for other things...it's a vicious cycle!!

i have the same problem.... over eating in the morning.... what i find helps is having breakfast later in the morning..... so instead i pack my breakfast with my lunch..... wait until i get to work and can sit.... and eat breakfast at about 9:30am instead of at 7 or 8 am...... this helps mid morning hunger too..... i'm not starving again at 10am!!!!

Don't eat the same thing every day, unless you really like it.  You are restricting yourself too much, so that when you even eat something different, it feels like you are "outside the boundaries" of your diet.  And once you feel those boundaries go, binging starts.  You need to allow yourself to eat ANYTHING, but in moderation.  Also, sounds like you could use some exercise, which will allow you to eat more calories and still lose.  Try drinking lots liquids too - water esp. but I find tea helps on cold days.

that exactly how i feel about going off the planned diet! like i've messed up so i binge...i do love my ham and cheese for lunch so i'll stick with that. i exercise about 4-5 times a week for about 45 mins to an hour with cardio and weights, with the exception of this week...it's a lot harder to get the mindset that i can have certain foods but portion control is the big thing....cereal is OFF LIMITS!!! i just cant have it in the house otherwise the box will be gone in 3 days....

Don't beat yourself up!  Everyone has a bad day.  Make sure that you eat today, but get back on track tomorrow.  I hope things are better for you soon.Laughing

100% agree - and from what you say about the exercise you've been doing, you may need more calories to keep your body fueled for the time you spend in the gym.  That may be why you are having trouble with frequent binging.

I know how you are feeling. I have many days where i feel like I just want to eat and eat...usually it happens at night, but in the long run I find it almost always has to do with my body telling me it needs food! It feels uncontrollable and uncomfortable but I think it happens sometimes if I had a hard week of working out or a day or two where I ate less...it all adds up and may hit you at once when you finally give your body a chance to relax. sometimes when you are going and going you are able to forget about hunger or may not even get hungry because you are stressed or just not thinking about it. This I think it why at night when I am home and relaxed in my pjs my body finally lets go! I knooo its an aweful feeling to give in and binge , but sometimes its what your body needs. If you are doing it out of emotional feelings then I would try to occupy myself doing something else to get my mind off food. (which I know can be hard) I hope this helps a bit....dont feelsooo bad though even though I know how it feels, but the day will be over before you know it.

Sorry you are having a rough time. You are going to get pass this.. Just look on the bright side of things. You called it what it was, and now you are owning. Once you start to own it.. YOU are more aware fo what you have done, and you will harder at it controlling it.

Now then.. I work in a calorie Range. 1200-1600, and that's a healthy range for me to shoot for. It works for me, and I'm not beating myself up if I ate 1200 calories by noon. Sometimes I find it hard reaching 1200 calories, and I grab a hand full of almonds, and the reason why I give myself this calorie range is- because..... I work out hard some days and I need a lot more calories. So this calorie range gives me room to enjoy my day, and I'm not stuck worrying and weighing my options for the rest of the day. You need to give yourself some play room. It's a life style change, and you have to remember that. Life style change, and it takes time to adjust and make improvements.

once you get use to your lifestyle change. Everything will fall into place, but it's so hard to balance that change, and stick with it.

Just don't beat yourself up.

Chin up okay. You are going to be A-OK!

try eating special K satisfaction in the mornings, you get 1 1/4 of cereal and 1/2 cup 1% milk at 250 calories.  I find it very filling and well satisfying.

Hey im pretty new to this site but i used to be terrible for eating a days calories by 11ish in the morning.

What I'm finding helps to fill me up is to add a a little sin free food to whatever my breakfast is. ie - if im feeling particularly hungry ill have toast and banana instead of toast and jam, or banana or sultanans added to my cereal.

I watched Paul mcKenna on the Tv and the man is a legend. He taught me that occassionally when you are particulary thirsty , your brain can send a signal which you get mixed up with hunger and then you eat. You become thirstier having eaten , send the same signal which also gets mixed up and then you eat some more. Its a vicious cycle. When I heard this I have started to force myself to eat the portion which I originally set myself out to eat and then when I still feel hungry and deliberately think "no your wrong, I must be thirsty" and I drink water with my meal- this takes time and patience but you will actually shrink your stomach and begin to feel fuller quicker.

This is also a great technique for everyone who snacks while working, while bored, snacks while nervous etc (like myself).

My trick for this is eating very low calorie food for the rest of the day. Steamed brocoli, light or air popped popcorn, raw veggies with salt or salt free seasoning or low cal/fat free dressing. One of the things you want to do is make a list of very low cal foods you like that will fill you up, then use that list when you binge or use it to PREVENT a binge of bad for ya food!
