Eating back burned calories, yay or ney?

Quote  |  Reply
I've seen people split on the idea of eating back burned calories. Some say you don't because if you do then it will create a balance. Others say you do.

So what is the truth?

I'm doing a calorie cycle this week and my deficits are quite small, they are not much to worry about.

I definitely say eating back calories is a good thing. Just my vote :)

I think "Eating Back" calories is a strange way to look at it.  You determine your burn total and eat accordingly based on you goals.  If you want to gain you eat more than you burn, if you are maintaining you eat what you burn, and if you want to lose you eat less than you burn.  How much more or less you eat depends on other factors.

It depends how far back you mean.  I would cycle my calories and it was the weekly average that I paid attention to rather than day to day.  It was the easiest way for me because of my job there would be two days a week that I would have to eat more, having to eat lunch with collegues and be back to work within an hour where there were no real low cal options.  If I didn't I would have to eat lunch alone in my office and lunch was only time I would get to socialise with them so that wasn't a real option.  It worked quite well, I never really got stuck with my weight.  I think that is what you mean by your post, and if that is what you mean, I would recommend doing it. :)
