eating big once a day

Hey everyone :D

Quick question...

Today I had oatmeal for breakfast.  Then for lunch I was really hungry so I ate a cheeseburger (homemade so tried to be as healthy as possible) some potato salad and a ton of watermelon.  It was a huge burger and a hefty portion of everything else and it is near bed time for me and I am not hungry.  I calculated my calories and I am at what I usually eat each day I just consumed todays calories mostly in one sitting.  Is that bad?  I know it is more healthy to eat frequent smaller meals but I sometimes do this- especially if we go to a buffet or something because I tend to eat more when all that food is in front of me.  Also, I dont want to go over my calories just because I havent eaten for awhile.  Let me know what you have learned- thanks guys!!

Eating more often keeps your metabolism going faster more consistently, but I tend to go with the philosophy that one day less than perfect isn't going to make a big difference, just like a perfect day isn't going to help someone who has horrible eating habits every other day.
I eat small portions through the day and my "large" meal for dinner (typically 800-900 calories).  I've lost 30 lbs eating 3 meals a day and maybe one snack (if I get hungry).  Whatever works for you - just be fairly consistent!  :)
Hm... I don't see an issue with it at all. I'm normally the exact same way, and I don't have a metabolism problem. You can give your metabolism a boost by eating at the same times or time everyday. I was watching Oprah and Dr.Oz had a discussion with her on the subject.

I eat 2 or 3 meals a day.  If I try to eat 5 or 6 times a day, then I'm never satisfied.  One may be pushing it, but if it works for you and you don't go over your daily allotted calories then it wouldn't hurt occasionaly.
I do that at least once a week.  You gotta have a life along with your diet, you know??

LOL

I say you're fine.
actually, it's bad.

when you do this most of the food you put in goes to fat instead of being used for building and keeping your body healthy.

alll the proteins (you should eat 1.4 grams per kg of lean body if you excercise), instead of being used will go to fat, this means you'll just get injuries instead of bettering and building your lean body.

you want to support your body with energy as needed throughout the day and not have it throw anything to fat. this means you want to spread your meals every 2-3 hours, if it's too hard for you try eating a fruit every now and then, by the way - the more you eat the more calories you burn processing it, and the more inefficient your metabolism goes.

I think it's better if you eat even 300-400 more calories when you spread your meals instead of eating the whole amount in a bang.
