Am I eating enough?
I know this question is asked a lot and so I have tried to search the forums for someone with similar stats with no luck so far. I am a 42 year old female, 5'6", 205 lbs, I walk 45 minutes a day for exercise 6 days a week and do resistance training 3 times a week... other than that I clean house, run errands, take care of kids, and spend quite a bit of time on the computer (CC) these days
.
I have been eating 1300 calories a day... and have lost 15 pounds in less than a month. My diet has really changed... I am eating good healthy foods instead of the unlimited amounts of junk food, fast food, fried food... So I feel great but just want to make sure I am eating the right amount.
No, I don't think you are - not at that activity level. Have you tried putting your stats into www.phord.com/cc ?
Congratulations on making these changes and having such great success already!
Did you try using the tools on this site to calculate what you should be eating? It actually sounds a bit low for your height/weight/activity level. I had great success my first month (alot of it was excess water I was retaining but some was actual fat) and then hit a frustrating plateau that lasted a couple weeks. Following the advice on here I actually increased my calorie intake (I was doing 1200/1300 and went up to 1500) and immediately saw results that have been consistent each week (no more than 2 lbs per week). I know now that the years of frustration over losing then plateauing were actually because I wasn't eating enough.
Good luck!
thanks for the link, it says 1600 calories a day. 1300 is what CC gives but the activity level on CC is a little different... I think harder to pinpoint???
So 1600? I am scared to go up that high especially considering things have been going well so far... although I have my moments of being a little hungry and and extra 300 calories sounds like a feast right about now
!
I guess I knew from what I have been reading that I have not been eating enough. Some days I have been quite satisfied with the amount of food and others like today... I am starving.
Thanks for the input ladies.
That is one sign that you probably aren't eating enough. What activity level did you set on CC? 1300 still sounds low with the amount of actvitity that you do. 1600 sounds more realistic. One suggestion that I've seen is to set your activity rate as sedentary and then log everything as far as all your activities during the day to give you a closer to true calorie burn number - the difference between your intake and burn shouldn't be more than 1000 calories a day to safely lose max 2lbs week. Don't forget to include the housework and other non-exercise activities - you're still burning calories.
What type of food should not be eaten?
Calorie Count does not prescribe a particular diet or tell people to avoid particular foods. We only ask that you eat a balanced diet... Read more
