Am i eating enough to loss weight safely
My average day consists of;
Breakfast - Melon 500g pot
Lunch - Soup
Dinner - pot of pineapple, orange juice or yougurt drink
And bag of grapes throughout the day as snacks.
This has been my diet during the weekdays for at least the last month and i havent really seen much weight loss. I dont really eat much on the weekends if i do its only half a pub lunch (cant stomach a full one) and a subway on my way home from a nite out (fri & sat).
in order to lose weight safely you need to create max 500 cal deficit; that is cal in - cal out; cal out consist of BMR and exercise ;
so make sure to log what you just wrote there and see where you stand; then figure out your BMR and do the calculations
My guess is: no.
I'm not sure what kind of melon you're eating, but Canteloupe is 180 calories for an entire medium melon.
I'm not going to even guestimate about the soup, but an entire pineapple is less than 250 calories and a cup of grapes is 60, so that would have to be a heckuva calorie heavy soup for you to be good.
I would say that you're not close to the number of calories you need.
Please eat more than fruit and soup. You need a basic level of energy to operate... 1200 calories a day for a sedentary adult female. And you need all kinds of foods... grains, proteins, fats, fruit, vegetables.... to be in good health.
Starving means you lose weight for a while but your body slows itself down so that when you have the pub lunch or the Subway, your body grabs on to the extra nourishment and tucks it away as fat. So no weight-loss. Starving is a really bad way to lose weight and prolongued starvation is incredibly unhealthy.
So please start eating properly. And if you don't feel you can or if you feel sick when you eat, that's a rather different problem and you may need to talk to your doctor.
Good Lord- I wouldn't think so- it looks like you're not eating nearly enough- and wheres the protein, wheres the carbs? You'd need to tell more about your height/weight/age etc. to see if you're eating 'enough' to lose- though my guess is you're not.

To be honest i dont know a lot about "what i need and what i dont". I dont ever feel hungry after eating this, but from the replies its obviously not right.
Healthy eating is not something that comes naturally to most people. So don't feel bad. The important thing is that you're concerned and taking steps to treating your body better.
Make sure to include protein and whole grains into your daily diet, as well as plenty of fruits and veggies. All four are essential for a healthy lifestyle and long-term weight loss. There are many articles on this site that are helpful for figuring out what is healthy and necessary for your body. I did a quick google search and came up with a comprehensive page: http://helpguide.org/life/healthy_eating_diet .htm . It might help you get started with your health research.
Broiled, grilled, or roasted meats are great for you in small amounts because they help you feel full and also maximize the benefit of your workout. Protein is also just necessary for life. If your lifestyle or work situation makes eating out necessary, the book 'Eat This, Not That' is actually fairly awesome. I use it when I'm on vacation or just when I'm going out to chain restaurants, fast-food dives, or even grocery shopping.
I'd say, do some preliminary research to plan out your overall diet (meaning eating pattern, not a "diet" diet). Caloriecount has a great Advice section with articles written by experts in many health fields, such as weight loss, nutrition, and exercise. Check out what the nutrionists have to say. I guarentee you will never look back!
Thanks for the info, but i work away and have no way cooking or preparing food. Other than a microwave at my office and a kettle in my hotel room.
Is there any prepackaged foods that i can get from a supermarket that are good. I think one of the reasons i only eat fruit is its the only food i dont have to prepare and is good for me.
A loaf of whole grain bread + a jar of peanut butter can be kept in your hotel room without refrigeration.
See if your supermarket carries microwavable pouches of rice and microwave steaming bags of veggies. Microwave and mix together, maybe with a little soy sauce for flavor.
Nuts are a good way to add calories and some protein.

The research was just to help you understand what you're supposed to eat in a day. Then, using that info, figure out what kinds of foods you can just pack in a lunch box and nuke at work. I usually packed healthy snacks like fruit and got a Lean Cuisine or Smart Ones for the protein. You can bring whole-wheat bread with peanut butter or low fat cheese. If you have a fridge at work, it's limitless what good foods you can bring. The main thing is just not to eat fruit and soup all day. It's not good for your health.
I'm doing the same eating habits and lose a pound here and there then gain it back or even 5 back once i binge all night.
i cant bring myself to excersize, so i eat very little to get the defecit,,,ugh!!!
Is jump roping as good an exercise as running?
In terms of calorie burning, moderate jumping is about equal to running a 10-minute mile, although calorie burning is always a function of time... Read more
