Hey everyone! I'm new to the site, so I just want to say hello and ask a few questions! I've just turned 20, I'm 5ft 5", 149lbs and looking to achieve 132 lbs by Christmas (ambitious but I'll give it a go!)
Okay, so my first question may be a bit obvious but is it not advisable to consume calories in the evening? I don't mean like a big chocolate cake or anything like that, just light snacks like tuna/fruit salads etc. Some people tell me it's fine to, and some people have said it's one of the worse things that you can possibly do.
I've also got a second question. I have to admit, I am quite lazy and as a student I love my nights out, and even though I get my eight hours most nights I usually have dinner instead of breakfast when I get up (12pm, yes, very lazy :P) Now, would I be better getting up and having breakfast and giving my late mornings a miss or is that okay as long as I eat when I get up? I'm aiming to eat my BMR of 1514 cals a day, but I'm worried that if I'm missing out a meal I shouldn't be eating higher calorie foods throughout the day to compensate for that, and I can't deduct any calories because that would be going under my BMR. I know the easy answer is to just stop being lazy and get up earlier.. but I love my sleep-ins haha!
Any answers would be very appreciated =) Thanks for reading!
Steph
You need to eat to lose weight, so I eat 5 meals a day. Got to keeping your stomach busy as well as burn calories doing stuff through out the day.
7-8 hours is recommended for a good nights sleep.
Bascially eat when you get up, then eat another 3-4 hours, then another 3-4 hours, etc...
I eat roughly 9, 1,4,7,11 on most days.
I tend to make breakfast and lunch my meals where I consume most sugars, carbs, and fats.
At night my last meal is roughly under 200 calories, very low sugar, very low fat, very low carb and high protien.
I eat a small homemade tukey burger mixed in a bowl with 1/2 cup eggwhites
Tuna by itself at night would be great with some eggwhites. I tend to eat fruit in the morning and afternoon.
I would shoot for around 1450-1550 at first with 5 meals. I was eating way under my BMR but eating a decent amount healthy foods every 3 to 4 hours so I wasnt really starving all the time and I was losing roughly 2 to 3 pounds a week, while doing light exercises.
Basically what they said...
my trainer said I shouldn't eat complete carbs within 3 - 4 hours before heading to bed. Thats breads, pastas, etc You may want to try that.
Definatly make sure you eat enough during the day. If you don't get enough food you will not loose weight. Not only to keep your stomach busy but you metabolism going strong all day long. If you don't have food in you - your metabolism slows down and burns food slower.
I find a great late night snack is yogurt.
Good luck!
Yeah I was thinking that myself, something about 200 calories in the evening but no carbs, like you both said :) Oh well that's good to know, I get really hungry during the evening so it's good to know I'll be able to have a snack :D
Thankyou both so much, you've cleared some key points up for me there =)
See you around!
Why should I gain weight if I'm not significantly underweight?
Actually, at 5 feet 5.25 inches and 96 - 98 pounds, your weight is below the healthy weight range for your height and age. There are... Read more
