I started out at 11 st 13lbs and I am currently 11st 1lb. I have 1 stone to go and have given myself until Christmas.

What I find however, is that went it comes to going to the cinema I eat too much of the sweet and toffee popcorn, and maybe something like a hotdog which makes me even more hungry so I go home and continue eating.

When I'm dining out with friends I practically overeat with a big meal and a dessert. Then for a few days the diet goes out the window as I attempt to get back into my healthy eating and exercising regieme.

I need to pratice more self control when I'm out and about. What do you guys do in these situations?

I have trained myself not to eat at the theater, I eat before I go. First of it's cheaper, and I can easily enjoy the entire movie with pop corn to snack on. As for your dinning out, order small meals or eat a salad only, that why when you do get home and you do continue to eat it's not as bad a eating two full meals back to back. I hope that helps a bit.
It's about preparing in advance i think.  For example if you like popcorn, bring the snack-a-jacks popcorn with u in ur bag (48 kcal for a bag of salted, and they do a caramel one too but can't recall the calories for that).  Or have a big diet coke... it really fills you up.  If you're eating out then try and do some research beforehand and decide what you will have... for example, wetherspoons have all their calorie informtion on their website.  Lots of other restaurants do too.  So guess my advice would be to do your homework... And do the ummming and ahhhhing about what ull have before u go out, this will make u less tempted to go with unhealthy choices x
I agree... I have to do a bit more preparation than the average person, although I'll feel a bit strange carrying food into the cinema.
Easiest choices for going out are salads, ask for no dressings though.

Or go for something which you can calculate later on such as chargrilled chicken and jacket potatoe. Try stay away from chips and before you decide ask for a glass of water. It will help you see if you're really all that hungry and fill you up a bit so you would be less likely to be tempted by the puddings.

Oh, and just because you're out, don't feel like you have to eat all of the meal. If you're full then stop.

Good luck
I remember when I was younger, if we went for a family meal, my mother wouldn't let us eat anything at all that day so we'd be starving when we went for the meal -- it was somehow better value that way!! However recently I've found that it helps to eat the usual amount during the day, and maybe a slice or two of wholewheat bread before I leave the house for the meal. That way I'm not tempted to get starters or dessert, and I'm less likely to overeat.

I think the main thing when eating out though is not to feel the need to polish off everything on your plate!! Portion sizes in restaurants are often so much bigger than what you would eat normally at home. I find if I'm really full but feel guilty about leaving so much uneaten, I just think -- Well if I don't eat it, it'll go in the bin, but if I do, it'll eventually end up being flushed down the toilet anyway -- a little bit disgusting, but it works for me :-)

restaurante meals are huge when you get your plate whatever it is that you order start eating but at the first feeling of fullness ask the waiter to pack it for you right there and then. put it in your bag and eat it the next day. you get two yummy meals instead of one
