eating a late night meal after a workout...

i worked out for about 2 hours got home and was a bit hungry so i ate a piece of skinless barbecue chicken breast with 2 sides of veggies from pollo loco. now im worried about going to bed because i know that metabolism slows down. usually i try to do the cottage cheese with veggies before bed if i am hungry which is usually the case because i tend to work out pretty late however i feel like im slipping up.

Slipping up is eating a bunch of chips and chocolate bars!

I know you may feel like you are slipping up but I honestly don't think that chicken and veggies would hurt you too bad since you said you usually try to eat cottage cheese with veggies. Plus from what I was told, what matters is calories in vs calories out, you may feel bloated since you ate right before bed and the content of the food (sodium, etc) but mainly a calorie is a calorie is a calorie. I eat right before bed a lot and I am still losing weight. Don't fret over it! :)

thanks guys much appreciated :D

Eating at night doesn't make you lose less weight, that's just a dieting myth.

The body in fact does not need sleep as we think. It is the mind that needs the sleep. Our body regenerates throughout day and night regardless. So it is a myth about eating at night as Kisteel said.

There is a nice article about this from the local CC Nutritionist

I cant post the link for some reason but go to ADVICE then ASK MARY and type on the search box "eating night".

Good Luck!

Hah!  Wait until you are 60.  My old body aches all over if I don't get my rest.  I seem to need to spend more time horizontal these days.

Back to the OP - There's an article somewhere in the CC Advice section or Blogs about this very thing.  I'll try to find it, come back and edit this to add a link.

edited to add link - http://caloriecount.about.com/sleep-more-eat- less-b275357

Read it.  We do need plenty of sleep, for many reasons.  I'm still looking for the one about night eating.  Maybe I dreamed it...
