Eating too little? How is that determined?
Hi all,
I'm currently around 170, at 5'7", and am eating around 1500-1600 a day. I try to walk about 30 minutes each day, but I don't walk fast. What is the greatest deficit that I can maintain in order to lose weight? And is it necessary that I "cycle" my calories?
Help me out if you can! :) Thanks
This site is linked to all over this forum. It's pretty good.
Have you used the Tools on this site to calculate the optimal amount of calories you should be eating to achieve your goals? Have you checked out the Weight Loss Forum Reources thread at the top of this forum? Also have you seen that we have a New Members forum which has a great thread The Unofficial Guide to Calorie Count?
Generally a rule of thumb is do not go over a 500-1000 calorie deficit per day. This will enable a loss of 1-2 lbs per week. Also make sure never to eat less than 1200 cals a day (but this is often too low). And calorie cycling will work if you are interested in that but if I were you I might "save" that for when and if you plateau.
Good luck and let us know if there is anything we can help you with!
